A Felon more loved than a Tuerkey

There has been a lot of talk on social media about the return of former mayor Ed Pawlowski to Allentown.

Many in the community are taking to his Facebook to welcome him back home. There is over 350 comments on the Morning Call facebook site alone. Most in favor or in support of the former mayor. Many asking for him to replace the current one.

There are few people with the appeal (not sex appeal) required that could bring this kind of attention like Ed. Love him or hate him I am sure his release from prison has come through your ears.

His tenure was certainly riddled with problems, but he remains quite popular and loved by many people. I am sure the current occupant of the mayor’s office wishes he had the popularity that Mayor Ed has managed to find in Allentown. Wake up, Matt! You never will.

Somehow, the mayor who went to jail is looking more competent, more present, and more connected to the community than the mayor currently sitting in City Hall. I mean where has Gold Tooth been? Sends the Jersey car salesman to every council meeting. "Ugh eh Ugh ugh well." Damn babbling brook.

Did Ed travel the world, learning about climate warming and its effect on Allentown? No. Did Ed take secretaries with him on city funded trips? No.

Im not endorsing Ed— this is just an indication of how low the bar has fallen.

Mayor + No Criminal Record = Better Leadership. Yet here we are, living in the exception that proves the rule.

Mayor Pawlowski — flaws, charges, and all — at least understood the community he served. He showed up. He talked to people. He held his cabinet accountable. He knew the city’s problems because he walked through them.

He didn’t need a press release to tell him what residents were dealing with; he could hear it from the sidewalk. Not from his electric mustang or bicycle. Running through the streets on Facebook live talking at 7am when the average Allentownian doesn't get out of bed until noon isnt public relations.

Ed fought hard against the unions as well. He didn’t give these monster contracts without a fight. He didnt give into their demands just to be liked. He did the job right, (despite his pay to play shit that everyone will bring up).

I dont remember a weekly flag raising either as a publicity stunt. Let Frank be the coordinator of the raising of the flags. Despite his lack of knowledge on somethings I would much rather watch him speak.

I saw Ed out in the community listening to issues and assisting where he could so many times.

Meanwhile, the Tuerk administration runs on being absent, unclear and lacking statements, and the hope that no one notices they are incompetent and in over their heads.

Just look at the actions taken in the last 4 years by this mayor and his cabinet. There are more failures than successes…. actually, what are the successes? I'll wait. Still waiting.

Still waiting....Ed Pawloski certainly wasn’t the greatest mayor that ever lived; no leader is perfect. My point is that the current mayor is so horrible that people are starting to say, “Well… at least Pawlowski cared. At least Allentown was his priority, not global travel destinations”

Allentown can survive scandals. It can’t survive neglect, mismanagement, weak leadership and out of control spending. I mean Pawlowski was still voted in as mayor despite having 949 charges against him. That is love by the community.

Even though this will never happen. Ed would definitely crush Matt if the two faced off in an election. As the Morning Call and LehighValley.com both said: don’t count out Ed Pawlowski.

I am happy to see Ed Pawlowski back home. I am sure he is disgusted by the condition of the city and the fool on the 5th floor. Ed really did a lot for the city and left it a better place. Sadly, Tuerk and the council has been working hard to ruin the city faster than Ed could build it.

Always remember 0+0=0. Both Ed and Matt failed as mayors, they did so for different reasons that informed readers already know. The bigger problem remains the same, our city government is so thoroughly disrespected by those who have the skill sets the city desperately needs. They do not want to risk their good names by mixing with idiots, users, race baiters that make up our elected city leaders. Only Allentown's voters can solve this problem by actually voting intelligently. Take note of this suggestion West Enders, you are the city's worst voters. You played a major role in turning our city government into the valley's laughing stock.

Ed failed because be started to get too big of an ego and the power probably corrupted him.
The pos in the mayor’s office is a flunky in life. Disliked by many, hated by former employers (I know personally he was a complete joke at LVEDC) and has nothing to offer but being a lousy politician.

100% Scott. City is a joke. Never gonna get better. Voters arent informed. Vote for idiots. Look at council

Allentown welcomes Pawlowski on his return from prison. Appears as though the residents prefer a convicted felon as mayor in place of Tuerk. Can you believe the collective state of mind of the citizens of the third largest city in the Commonwealth. Tuerk has been useless as mayor and previously no better at LVEDC. C'mon man, give me a freekin break! Is this cartoon city or what?

Anonymous said...

Sure way to get widespread national publicity for this city . . . . re-elect Pawlowski to Mayor.

Anonymous said...

LVEDC was the one that got both elected they are the ones out there paying for Allentowns voting base with grant money. Jennings tells his foot soldiers to advertise and go out there and pay there voting base enough for a fix, just like those imported for the trial by him to say kind words translated to English in support of this criminal. Theft of services as a public official is a crime that may start out small and winds up being a bigger crime than the third world countries politicians that the voting base comes from all through special grant supervisor administrators.

Matt was a joke at AEDC as well.
It will be interesting to see what he does for a living in 3 years when his term expires.

Doordash delivery on his bicycle? he claims to be single handedly changing the climate, it is a perfect segue.

Anonymous said...

I would certainly vote for him. Let’s kick out Tuerk and bring back Pawlowski.

If Ed gets a federal pardon he's cleared to run again for Mayor. Of course while elected PA office is out of his reach until then he can always run for Federal Office. He would get the votes for a U.S. House Seat. Love him or hate him you have to admit that Ed has charisma and can be very personable and comes off as genuine. He does a great job of hiding his narcissism. McPronouns ooozes self-importance and elitism. Couple that with the constant virtue signaling and you have a narcissistic lunatic who believes himself to be the smartest in any situation. Matt is as likable as a wet fart.

Anonymous said...

I hope he runs for congress. I dont think a federal pardon in a couple years is out of the question. I mean the guy did time and is now on parole. He isnt getting away with anything if he's pardoned. At 63 or whatever he is, will it really matter?

Anonymous said...

I thought the city was swapping Tuerk for Pawlowski? Is that not true?

Scott Armstrong said...

All good con men have plenty of charisma, and fake sincerity well. He was and remains just that.

Everyone forgets the main problem with FEDED, he stole from the taxpayers, he sold your water resources that didn’t help anything with police pension. Today the people are facing higher living costs and water fees going up bc of infrastructure replacement cost. Plus the the fact that taxpayers owned the water resources to control all of above. FEDED ran the city on backs of all the workers and services they provide, Ed fired all the people with knowledge to run city efficiently, and replaced them with yes men !! Most managers were forced to follow the mayor even knowing it wasn’t right. This is how the FBI started looking into his practices. So the city is better off without FEDED BUT we need better leadership than what we have seen the last 4 years..FYI
ED still didn’t apologies to city taxpayers for HIS Own actions as mayor and corruption!!

I seen Turek trying to sell his ass on turner St with the other hoe's on the hoe stroll.

Anonymous said...

Well, if that is true then the FBI is looking at city hall once again. This mayor is worse than Ed could ever have been.

The man cave or rumpus room he had built by city contractors is pretty slick, he's a smooth operator who was betrayed by the Fleckster one of the most diabolical political hacks to operate in the valley right up there with Scissorhands Tom Severnson.

The poverty pimp Alan Jennings will help mentor Ed back into a position of authority

It’s sad how Matt Tuerk thinks fake enthusiasm is a substitute for governing. Ed Pawlowski was a great mayor who did the work of governing. Tuerk brings misdirection and mediocrity to Allentown.

Anonymous said...

Matthew Tuerk is a man of the people unafraid of cycling on public roadways rain sleet or snow he's rough tough and buff in a lean n mean kind of style like Alex Honold an apex athlete but all around renaissance man, trilingual skilled dancer, and makes a mean mofongo that Abe thirsts for

Eddie P has one lung but can still play the drums on par with Keith Moon it's a shame he wastes his musical talents on Christian music if he submitted to the hedonistic pull of secular music he could have been a rockstar instead of an excon disgraced returning citizen

Scott Armstrong said...

Ed and Matt both sought the mayor's office for the same reason. Not the reason previous mayors ran, to use their aquired skills to serve their hometown, instead they saw Allentown as a political stepping stone. This difference in motivation results in vastly difference outcomes. Hometown mayors seek real long term solutions, focus of sound fiscal management and seek the best available talent to fill city hall. Pass through mayors like Matt and Ed are less interested in the long term, they hope to soon be in a higher office somewhere else. Therefore expediency guides them. In hiring they seek people who are useful to them but often poor employees, sell the water works for quick cash, get grants to build skate parks instead of basic maintainance on existing infrastructure, seek political alliances with groups and organizations that will further their political ambition instead of the city's....Afflerbach opened the door to pass through mayors, he was born in the city but had been away for years, he saw the city as a stepping stone, so he moved into a relatives house to run for mayor. He term as mayor was a disaster for the city. Ed followed Roy, Matt basicly followed Ed. It's been downhill all along.

Mart Tuerk is a 51year resident in ld man trying so hard to be cool, but failing miserably. He clearly has deep personal identity issues that he struggles with regularly. Must be a sad existence to be in your fifties and struggling with who you really are. He is quite sad

Dyed in the wool hipsters here in Allentown revere Hermano Tuérk for his effortless suave style, the well done tats, passion for eco friendly micro mobility, his embrace of cultural diversity, he is not afraid to be openly "woke" this triggers the hell out of the White flighters who ran to Whitehall once the Queen City became. A chocolate city.

Take me back to the land of the Pennsylvania Dutch. Away from this hole of a city where there is no law and order anymore. And the downtown business toots continue to suck us dry. Remember when everyone thought Pat Brown was a hero? Pat who? Well shiver me sober timbers my boy.

Anonymous said...

Is Allentown now an idpenedent uni-party politically?

Anonymous said...

Ed and his corrupt admin aka Susan Wild (we all know what a joke she is/was) are rotten scum bags for any city or state. Keep dreaming about Ed’s comeback.

Well shiver me sober boy is allentown pa truely the third largest Browne hole law of itZ insemination. Truth be told I would like to see actual legal numbers to this farce not just some cook of the books concoction out of those mental migitZ mindZ!)$?
Truth be told this isn't Allentown PA, more like little sanjuan and the importing of voters that could care less as long as they keep getting there free stuff and are allowed as agents of local political hacks to poison this once All American City with there imported wares!)$?

Scott Armstrong said...

I moved here in the early nineties, even then it was no longer "the land of the Pennsylvania Dutch". It was increasingly made up of people such as myself, from somewhere else who saw a well located city, generally well managed, and full of beautiful historic architecture. Elected officials were generally people who saw the city as their home, whether they were born in the city or not, they were doing so to serve their city, hoping to preserved what was working and improve what wasn't. Bill Heydt was a great example of this. He saw problems and he wanted to address them. He wasn't using the office as a stepping stone to higher office or raise his profile. He certainly was no politician and spoke his mind and never pandered. Contrast this mayor to Roy, Ed, and Matt. All of them political to the bone.

As a city resident what I find most disappointing with Pawlowksi and Tuerk is the shameless self-interest. Whether it was Pawlowski getting work done at his house by a city contractor, comping meals at Johnny Manana's or ultimately the pay to play scheme or Tuerk's more passive abuse of the public's trust by using the job to gain travel experiences all over the US and the World, a free car and any other perks of office he can get for himself. I'm really hoping the next Mayor is honest and has the real concerns of the residents at heart not their own personal gain.

Anonymous said...

Are there any such candidates on the horizon who are registered Democrat? I ask this because it seems highly unlikely a Republican could actually win a general election in Allentown. Already there are few Republicans who would actually want to touch this mess of a city.

Scott Armstrong said...

Or competent Democrats

Mayor Matt should ask himself "What would Jesus do?" , the answer would clearly be to bring Ed into the fold in some capacity to heal the wounds brought about by an extreme weaponization of the justice system via lawfare against a good Christian man who was made into a parish for no good reason

Anonymous said...

OMG, this lionization of Pawlowski is ridiculous. He was found guilty of over 40 counts BY A JURY OF HIS PEERS. He was released early and can now go on to live a productive life, but he was by no means an innocent lamb.

Anonymous said...

Most of Allentown’s residents are clueless about what’s really going on outside their little taxpayer funded, mostly free to them, lifestyle bubble.

Ed did things wrong. Let he who hasn't sinned cast the first stone. Many of the "charges" against Ed were for lying to Federal Investigators. 54 charges were levied and he was convicted on 47. It's a trumped up number to make it seem way more worse than it is. Ed traded city contracts for campaign contributions. That is wrong and he rode the rap. Now he is free to be Ed. That's the way our "justice" system works. Commit the crime, do the time, and that's that. Ed shit on a lot of people and like I said, let he who hasn't sinned. The fact remains that Ed is super popular and in the business of winning popularity contests he's masterful. I neither like or dislike the man, but I do recognize that he has game. If your goal is to have electeds who are honest and upstanding and ONLY serve the public good then you are going to be disappointed. That unicorn doesn't hunt.

Scott Armstrong said...

Not hrowing the first stone does not imply ignoring the sin! Jesus told the woman to sin no more. As a self proclaimed Christian Ed has refused to acknowledge his. Pride is a cardinal sin to Christians. It's apparent Ed is guilty of that. He is to be pitied rather than given to opportunity to sin again at our expense.

Anonymous said...

Great point! How many times were us citizens reminded that Ed was a Christian with a degree from Moody Bible Institution?? He should have followed his formal training, admitted guilt, apologized to the tax payers and sought God's forgiveness. That said, I'd take him over Tuerk any day of the week.

Anonymous said...

Sorry, bad grammar day; it's neither/nor. Scott I agree with you that we do not want Ed to sin again at our expense. But that's a voter thing and he seems to have that sewn up. Our candidate pool is shallow and not at all filtered or chlorinated. McPronouns barely beat a guy who is not coherent late in the afternoon because of consistent alcohol consumption (it was funny watching him on the news during evening events as he was normally very tuned up). If Ed were eligible (and he would be if he secures his federal pardon) he would mop the floor with other candidates. Many of the people voting for him will embrace the fact that he has street creds by having been incarcerated. It's the sad city in which we live. And yes the bible banging routine is usually a tell for someone who is flawed. I am not saying that I am going to vote for him but I am saying that if eligible Ed would receive lots of votes.

Scott Armstrong said...

I sincerely doubt he would win. There are now many voters in the city who weren't here during his three terms as mayor, or were too young to vote. They will give him a fresh look and likely not
Like what they see, a man convicted of forty some felonies related to municipal fraud. By the way, any opponents of his could easily point out he expediantly sold the water works, never raised taxes but instead increased fees, and had zero to do with the NIZ. That was all Pat Browne. Additionally he spent all of his time as mayor trying to leave town by planning runs for higher office. Frankly he is only back here because he likely has nowhere else to go.

Anonymous said...

All valid Scott. Ed used to have a sign over his door as you exited his office: Never, Ever, Ever give up. Or something worded similarly. And give up he won't. Hopefully you are right and I am wrong regarding votes. I just cannot trust the recipient class (free shit army) to vote for someone who doesn't promise "benefits".

Anonymous said...

Precisely correct Scott. Interviewed him on 2 occasions when I was a banker. He had a hard time looking me in the eyes when answering questions. Ed was truly the Bullshit artist from the Windy City.

Anonymous said...

I can agree with that ! Ed always controlled the meetings and abruptly said I’m done ! Meeting over , knew then this guy was BS !!never wanted to hear other opinions, just pushing narrative. Hired all the phony people along the way, ie finance director, MD , HR , pw director, all yes men !!! No one with accountability or actual plans
