E-A-G-L-E-S

E-a-g-l-e-s.

Im not an Eagles fan though I love a good story.

Mrs. Johnson aka "Mama B" who is Shaquan Barkley's mother has decided to move her retail store "Mama B" from Bethlehem to Allentown.

More importantly the 100blk N. 7th st.  Mrs. Johnson why?  I know you and your son have big hearts for under privileged people.   I admire that.  But Allentown?

You have the means to help others.  I strongly feel those that can, should. I know poor people.  I used to be poor.  Poor people are the most generous people.  They will give you their last dollar. Not because they can because they really cant.  But rather because it makes them feel good to help others.

At first, when I started writing I wanted to say how bad of an idea this move was.  Moving from nice Bethlehem to a high drug area of Allentown.  I wanted to say that is a dumb idea.

But as I wrote, I realized maybe Mrs. Johnson doesnt care about the possible danger of her new location.  Maybe putting herself at a higher risk of being a victim of something is worth helping people.  That is noble of her.

I truly hope her store does well and she helps alot in need.  We need more people like her that care about others. I will have to check her store out one day.

The 100 block of N 7th is within the NIZ so its relatively safe and clean, but with very little foot traffic. Good luck to her but it may be tough to attract regional customers to that location. The Outer Ring starts right at Turner street so customers will be subjected to 24 hour a day skunk weed odors coming from car windows and everything else bad that goes down outside the NIZ.

My guess? She is possibly getting a discounted or free period of rent to occupy a business space on the first floor of the City Center Hive complex. This practice is common and most businesses close or relocate after the agreed upon grace period. I'm not saying this is the case, but its a possibility.

Why come to Allentown? We have bad streets, crime, pollution, corrupt politicians, a dumb ass Mayor, and no one wants to live there? The place is never going to be revitalized. I am sure leaders are taking the money now and stashing it away for themselves later, just like the textile, iron works, and concrete companies did that les to its rapid decay. Terky Jerky probably promised free rent and a grant to entice her to Allentown. She should go to Whitehall or Bethlehem

Well its official...this store is located within the Reillyville Hive complex in the NIZ. Her business has been "poached" from Bethlehem and will almost certainly close or relocate after the introductory rent discount lapses.
