"Quid pro Quo" is just code for "I expect a favor in return, but will call it friendship"

Possibly one last day of begging, deceit and money shuffling in City Hall for 2025 at least! Based on the characters involved in this unreal reality show, I am expecting a complete shit show and failure in running the government.

Affa, Napoli and now turncoat Hendricks have come up with a dumb resolution that they will support a $50 reduction on the trash and keep the 4% tax increase.

Proposed Amendments: 1.A proposal to decrease the solid waste fee by $50 and reinstate the tax increase at 3.96%. (Affa, Hendricks, Santo) Background: On November 19, City Council amended the General Fund Budget to remove the mayor’s proposed tax increase of 3.96% . At that time, the Mayor proposed a compromise that would reduce the solid waste fee by $25. President Hendricks scheduled a special meeting on December 3 to review the mayor’s compromise. After reviewing the compromise (I believe after being conned into something he doesn't understand) and reviews by the Finance Director and the City Controller, Councilpersons Affa, Hendricks and Santo (I believe all bought by the mayor) are proposing a reduction in the solid waste fee by $50 and reinstatement of the mayor’s proposed tax increase. Wait! The Finance Director finally has answers? Write that down. Too bad she is wrong once again. Did the controller hire another college student to perform this audit?

The General Fund would lend funds to the Solid Waste fund which would be paid back over time – a common practice this city has used multiple times. Although not uncommon in government accounting, there is a potential for problems in the future if the interfund loan is not paid back; the financial risk is shifted back to the loaning fund and would negatively impact the health of the general fund. (Again, the city likes to do this — hence why the city is on the verge of financial decline) The new proposal would have a positive impact on 23,000 single family residents – out of a total of 26,000. Meanwhile, would the other 3,000 have a negative impact? Actually, when the city raises the trash fee back to where it should be after 2026, all 26,000 will be impacted negatively.

Do you guys have any brains!!!!??? Nooooo. You are just borrowing the $50 elsewhere. Borrow means give back at some point. Citizens, can someone explain to these 3 mayor groupies that this is only fixing the problem for next year. In 2027 citizens will have to make up this $50 increase somehow plus the standard garbage increase. This is not fixing shit. Wake up!!!

Unsurprisingly Darryl Hendricks has changed his mind on the taxes. Wonder how that happened? Hendricks, why can't you stay true to your vote? You bow down to this nerd.

*A.I generated though this is really accurate.

What are you scared of? Changing your vote without a huge justification is a strong sign of weakness, but in your case, it also includes fear. We all know your son works for the parks department, and any pushback on the mayor would certainly not fare well for your son. It is sad that you sell out the city for the protection of your child time and time again. I believe 3 things.  1. Shows how you are easily bought and corrupt. 2. You know the mayor is a vindictive and evil SOB, and you are afraid of his inevitable retaliation and 3. You were never a public servant for the people. You enriched your life and your sons while on council off the backs of the people you were supposed to serve. I am sure that Matt Tuerk will rename a toilet seat or floor mat after you when you leave this year for being his most loyal and compliant servant while on council. Good riddance.

I am expecting the other four councilmembers to say no to these resolutions and let the Mayor veto his tax plan. Then once again someone will have to flip their vote to fulfill the 5-2 override that is needed to stop the Mayor's madness.

Tuerk, why can't you just be honest and put your best plan first?

You're like a used car salesman. Going back and forth. It's dumb and very embarrassing. Every time you change your plan, your creditability, whatever is left, gets less and less. I swear Allentown is the only city that plays games like this.

Maybe don't give your cabinet members raises like this and put unqualified and uneducated employees in key positions because they are friends with you or your 5th floor team.

Let's start saving here. When you can justify why these people deserve such high raises when people are struggling, I'll stop the criticism on this blog and send praise to you and your cabinet. I think we will both be continuing forward "as-is" for the next four year

A.I Generated for fun
