If you are like me, you are noticing that the Lehigh Valley has very poor representation in government. This can be seen in Harrisburg with our summer hire representative, Ana Tiburcio, all the way through the ranks up to the Governor. I believe it is fair to say many people in the Lehigh Valley share my deep frustration with the quality of local and regional governance.
The most recent candidate that has found a lot of press lately is the Democratic candidate for the PA-7 district, Bob Brooks. Brooks, a retired firefighter and former union leader, is seeking to unseat Rep. Ryan Mackenzie. Brooks claims to be blue collar Democrat running for the working class. He says that he knows the people of the 7th better than anyone else running because he “grew up in a working-class environment” and one that “struggles just like the everyday workers. 🥱 Doesn't mean you know shit. And the whole I was a firefighter is played out. As I have written the fire union is one of the most corrupt around here.
However, as with most politicians in the Lehigh Valley and througout, once you begin to pull back the layers of the onion and see the 'real deal', you learn that it may just be that the spoken words don’t match his claims. 1st. Brooks has owned businesses, including a real estate company. 2. He worked in management and entrepreneurial roles and 3. He has been involved in property transactions and civil litigation related to debt and asset transfers.
I have a hard time understanding why he categorizes himself as a “blue collar” when these roles are typically not categorized this way. His public social media posts from the past also do not match his carefully crafted public persona. They reflect a professional background rooted in business ownership and management — not the trades or manual‑labor fields that the term “blue collar” traditionally describes. At a minimum, people are seeing his past self being inconsistent with his current public self.
His social media posts in the past have included statements about Colin Kaepernick. In a 2019 Facebook post, he referred to him as “douchebag” after the NFL National Anthem scandal. I am not here to discuss the relevance of Kaepernick being a douchebag or not, I certainly have my own opinions of anyone that disgraces the National Anthem or doesn’t respect the flag. He has also taken to social media with a pro-gun position. He posted on Facebook that “the problem is not guns. It’s the hearts without God, homes without discipline, schools without prayer and courtrooms without justice – sounding more like a Republican in Democrat clothing.
We do not need more imposters in Washington DC, Harrisburg, Allentown, or the Lehigh Valley and this is what I see with this man. He has been endorsed by a class of clowns that are far too long to mention here but I will say when Matt Tuerk, Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, and Tuerk’s man-crush Pete Buttigieg endorse someone it has to be setting off alarms!
Brooks does not feel right for Lehigh Valley 7th . His Public records show a professional background centered on business ownership, real‑estate ventures, and ongoing civil litigation over a six‑figure promissory‑note debt ($160,000+). The gap between his self‑branding and his recorded occupational history is a matter of public record, not interpretation. Court filings describe disputes over repayment and property transfers, including allegations—still unresolved—about how assets were handled.
This post is not to question Brooks’s right to run or his ability to advocate for policy positions. It is about accuracy. He presents himself as something he is not, and we as voters are left to navigate the gap between his
crafted image and documentation. That gap matters — especially in a region that has spent years stuck in a political rut, cycling through leaders who promise authenticity but deliver ambiguity. Voters deserve the truth — not another crafted persona pieced together by the political establishment.

Best read in the valley!"
Fireman sweet!)$?
Brooks the crook. Just watch his ads. He's a fraud. Sorry im done voting for these democrats.
As a Democrat super voter I'm passing on Crooksy Brooksy an obvious self-serving con man. I'm further disappointed that Josh Shapiro is supporting this flawed candidate. I've done my research and I'm voting for Ryan Crosswell a veteran and former Justice Department attorney. It doesn't bother me at all that he was a Republican, in fact I'm glad he 'Sacramento on our side now.
The fact that Matt Tuerk and Shapiro endorsed is enough to end my vote. Honestly he seems like a first class bullshitter. Cromwell for the win.
Unfortunately for us slobs who fund all of this nonsense, elected office holders in our community are a safe distance from being accomplished humans (most are creepy losers). It would be delightful to believe that one party is "better" than the other but it just isn't so. Both parties stoke the toxic tribalism. But I still vote hoping that it will make a difference realizing that I am just another sucker that the losers take advantage of to make their living and pad their retirement. I'm nowhere near smart enough to come up with a solution, I'll just go on being successful so the looters can dream up ways to tax me. I will never run for elected office as I could not take enough showers to wash the sketch off from being around the other electeds. I could not also appreciate being hated because I was not in the same party as another person.
He is relying heavily on being a firefighter as a reason to vote for him because he is a "hero". Fun fact -- not all firefighters, cops, military, and EMS personnel are ethical and solid people. In fact, I would say that a lot of them hide behind the public perception to disguise their immorality. This guy smells of fraud, deception, and misinformation.
Abe -- Politicians lie all of the time and we keep believing them.
Speaking of liars, did you know that Matt Tuerk wasted taxpayer money to go to Spain and the entire conference was simulcasted on the internet? We taxpayers of Allentown got to pay for him to run in the Madrid Marathon. You can't tell me differently.
Check out the videos that were live broadcast. https://citylab.bloomberg.org/
I wish City Council would do something to stop funding these expensive junkets. The optics of the Mayor of the poorest municipality in the region taking constant tax payer funded vacations are terrible. How can we be expected to keep accepting tax increases when Tuerk is fleecing us this way???? Can City Council do anything???
City Council? Not while Napoli is President. He is Hendricks’ understudy and Tuerk’s pet.
Another real estate flip fopper firefighter, ABE is he involved with the code official office that designs and passes catastrophes and risk of life locally?
I was considering Crosswell, but then I noticed that his supporters had put yard signs in the public right-of-way within a foot of and on either side of each of Brooks’ signs that were previously there.
It bothers me that a candidate for Congress (and those working for him) would do something so immature. Instead of trying to cancel another candidate’s message, I’d rather that they simply tell me what THEY would do if elected. I guess Crosswell lacks the ability to do so or doesn’t want voters to come to an informed decision. It also tells me Crosswell lacks the ability to manage a campaign in an ethical manner. And if he’s doing that now before he’s elected, I can’t imagine how bad he’d be if he were elected. That’s not what I want from my congressional representative.
I’m not a fan of Brooks and certainly not McClure, so I might just sit this election out and let things fall wherever. It’s amazing to me that these are the best that the party could come up with.
