It seriously looks like the data centers are coming to Allentown no matter what and wherever they want. Despite all the opposition by the public, just watch the center on W. Emaus Ave get approved. Im sorry guys but you really don't matter to the people who have the final say. These data centers will keep pushing until they are approved and Kane, the Mayor, and most of council will support them.
According to Frank Kane, the developer for the data center on W. Emaus Ave has changed a bunch of shit to try and make the center more appealing. Not the location, just things to mask how bad its going to suck for the people who live near it.
Tues at 12:15 you know, the time when everyone is at work there is a meeting about these revisions in the city council chambers.
Bottomline, there is alot of money behind these data centers. Follow the money.
Has anyone gone to the fair? I haven't and won't be. Maybe if Tuerk was in a piranha filled dunk tank. I could see Kane there at the ring toss "Step right up folks, 5 will get you 10" all while chewing 20 pieces of gum like he does at council meetings.
I wonder how the crowds are? From some of the photos I saw, seemed a little scarce, but I dunno what time of day they were taken.

Council has alot of spending decisions coming up. I'd advise watching their upcoming meetings. Since the county proposed a 17% tax increase, ASD will probably add to that, and if the city council approves a bunch of future debt we are all screwed. Could you imagine the 17% and say idk 9% from ASD and then the city throws another 12%? People will have to move out of the county. Bottomline, the people in the city aren't being heard. The city employees who I bet 70% of them do not live in the city are destroying the residents with promotions, constant raises, and ridiculous benefits and contracts. The city cant keep taking on debt. Save us council.
Also, I believe the decision on the Curtis Files happens mid month. This month could be very exciting.

Believe me, Abe, when I support something, it’s clear. You will have no doubt when the city is in support of something. In the case of data centers, they must be allowed by law, and we have put in extra safeguards to make sure that they are held to the highest standards possible to protect this community. Every member of City council that sits on the dais, and the mayor, in lockstep, worked very hard to put protections in place very quickly to protect this community. Our Zoning Board will make that decision with no influence from the administration and with the comments of the affected public front and center in their minds. City Council listened to public comment and amended our ordinance faster than anyone has ever amended and enacted zoning changes in PA. The residents and taxpayers of Allentown have a voice, and the Mayor and City Council that they voted for have listened to them at every turn.
You are right about the Fair though. I paid $18 for a sausage sandwich and $13 for mozzarella sticks today. I have been saying it all summer. I don’t know how the summer festival economy continues to make it. … $18 pinchos at Musikfest… $13 mozzarella sticks at the fair.. who can afford that? How can vendors afford to operate if sales fall because of prices?

While it is a good thing to hear that Tuerk has been pushed to obscurity and is most likely on another tax payer funded trip with his Assistant, it is a stretch to say Kane has done anything to improve Allentown.
Can the zoning board meeting be rescheduled before Matt returns?
You have to just schedule it without him. Allentown is not his focus anymore…nor has it ever been. If you wait for him to “show up” you will be waiting an eternity.

The Allenhood Fair is a joke at this point. Why do we keep trying to compete with Bethlehem? Allentown is a failure of a city and no one wants to be a part of any fair that is from a time gone by. Tuerk should consult with the Muslim temple leadership at the mosque on Tilghman St. Most certainly they can find a home for him at a discreet location near a Temple of Doom in the Middle East. He can then resign his mayorship and live happily everafter. Otherwise he'll be stuck somewhere on 2nd St in Allentown where they're burning all the factories down.

I went to the city’s homepage to look at the upcoming council agendas. Why is there a meeting on the DROP this Wednesday? Didn’t they just vote the past two meetings to hire an auditing firm to audit city finances and until they receive that report, they voted to put a halt on big expenditures such as the fire and police stations and DROP? They also posted the actuary report. I was against it before, now I’m really against it. The actuary report details that it in NOT in fact cost neutral. If it costs the city even $100, that’s a hard NO. We are about to get slammed with this county tax increase, we can’t just be giving cops whatever they want for the heck of it. Also, whatever it costs, you might as well double it because the firemen are going to come asking for it too. It will be funny to see the cops come rolling into this meeting begging city council to believe them that this isn’t totally self serving, but rather a big benefit for the citizens, and that if council doesn’t vote for it, the sky will fall. Just watch.
The DROP is getting a lot of bad publicity from mostly this blogger. I think it would be wise to research the DROP and see the benefits that it brings to municipalities that exercised its availability. The DROP retains highly trained and qualified officers who are in police management and leadership.
Clearly under Chief Roca the APD has been more active in the community than ever before. I remember the days of Chief Granitz saying he was here for the long haul then abruptly left. Rumor is that he didn’t want to work with Tuerk.
The point is the DROP is very beneficial to the city. We need more quality officers like Chief Roca, Lt Leonard, and Sergeant Hendricks. I hope that it passes (mostly because this blog is full of hate). There better be a provision where the Chief can deny entry for underperforming and lazy officers. I would hate to see those officers sitting in their vehicles sleeping all shift or taking sock and vacation all of the time to be kept on duty because there aren’t proper controls on who can participate.
Bwahahaha. This is a joke right? DROPs bankrupt cities. DROPs cost cities millions of dollars while providing zero benefits to the tax payers. The only proponent you will hear about the DROPs are cops or their families. They retain old cops who the rank and file don’t want around anyway. There is never any “train your replacement” or whatever bs they always try to sell you. No younger officer goes to a city because they have a DROP because most don’t think 30 years down the road. And yea, every officer with 20
years, or even less if they buy back military which makes zero sense, can enter the DROP. All those bad cops who use 100 sick days a year, yup, they go into the DROP and never show up a day to work. Just ask Philly PD. This is a money grab.
The DROP was overwhelmingly voted on by the APD union members and the mayor signed the agreement authorizing the DROP. Why does it need to go to council? The mayor already authorized the DROP when he signed on 2/27/26.

Does “passage by city council” mean anything to you. Go yell on Wednesday how if you don’t pass this 200 officers will leave and the city will burn.

I have to tell you, I previously could have cared less about this drop program. I read this blog and really didn’t have an opinion. However I read the actuary report and it is going to cost the city quite a substantial bit of money. And I’m also afraid that all the other unions will want it too at this point. The fact that it’s obviously police officers coming onto this blog to push for the drop makes it even more sketchy in my mind. I kind of agree with the previous poster, if it costs money, it has to be a “no”. Is it true they are also negotiating a contract? Then it definitely must be a “no” vote.
