Philly or Camden?

As some of you might have noticed if you live near Jordan Meadows, the homeless were kicked out today.  The question is where do they go now?

The YMCA is apparently opening early but their isnt enough space for everyone nor do many people want to go there.  So where do they go now?

Did Mayor Tuerk really think out this eviction plan?  Are the homeless even on Nate Hymans property? This power move is going to have dramatic effects on the look of the city.  Which is Allentown going to start to look like, Philly or Camden?

The once somewhat clean Hamilton St. I feel is going to start seeing some trash once more people start camping out there. .  As for the rest of the city, well there is enough trash on the streets.  Probably wont notice it.

Be prepared for some homeless to start to migrate to the west end.

You could wake up to this.

They will end up in every patch of woods between the lehigh river and cedar beach.

We are lucky Tuerk isnt an Army General because his planning skills would surely end in the demise of us all.  His flood plan excuse is so weak.  Instead of letting the people live there in one area and being able to better help them, lets kick them out and spread them throughout the city. Good job Matt!!!!! Einstein has nothing on you.

Tuerk is a performative buffoon.

The homeless need to camp out on Tuerks yard.

Send them to the Parkway since they already have a head start on ruining that once pristine area. How about Bogert's bridge before it falls down? But I digress.

Turkey is just allowing this to happen because he has ICE in his back pocket trying to gather the ones he calls illegals in one place to add to his check from the city.

Mayor Matt doesn’t have a solution, he has an act.

I did my monthly unofficial Hamilton Street weekend census and noted a grand total of 28 people (29 if you included me) on a beautiful Sunday at 11:00 am from 12th Street to 5th Street. Saw a friendly couple walking a dog, 10 obvious residents of the OR, inexplicably a touristy looking couple with a baby walking in the 800 block, 2 coffee drinkers at Gem & Joe's in the 1000 block, 3 people hanging outside the nearby barber shop with loud music blasting and the 8 patrons eating outside at Rosa Blanca gave the impression of, if only for a fleeting second, of a normal functional downtown scene. Will Rosa Blanco be one of the rare examples of a restaurant that survives beyond one year?? The Moxy was as dead as the seemingly always closed Nowhere Coffee. Hoping the Moxy doesn't suffer a similar fate as the former hotel opposite City Hall.

Nowhere Coffee not having weekend hours is absurd. Their owner is a nut, someone left a bad review on google and she went to their work to confront them about it.

Abe: you want them to live there in one place so everyone in that area of Allentown has to deal with them while the rest of Allentown goes along with no shared impact ??? That’s really fair to the people living along the Jordan Creek. Seems to me that you’re the one with no plan !

No idiot. Simply keeping them all together at one location wherever it is, is better than spreading them out. Have you been to Jordan Meadows? There isnt exactly that many houses there. One side is the river. Then a huge parking lot on the other. The fact is that Tuerk got scared of Hyman and then panicked. Didn't have a plan, so had the assistant fire chief who wants to be chief so bad climb out of his ass and say the floods are coming. Tuerks inability to lead will backfire again

Why isn't Matt using this situation to draw attention to the national shame that is our total lack of care for the mentally ill and drug addicted. These people make up the vast majority of the nation's homeless. He could show real leadership and genuine compassion by calling attention to, and demanding this state and national crisis be dealt with with statewide and nationwide solutions. No mid size city or first class city can to this alone. It seems clear he prefers to follow the lead of other politicians and merely move the pieces around.

You have to see the photo of her chewing out the Zoning Officer in the front a local suburban board of supervisors for denying her permit to run a coffee roasting operation in a residential neighborhood. She does look like a nut.

You’re the idiot! If you ever took the time to read MCall it clearly said that Hyman (Nat by the way, not Nate) has 4 buildings along the homeless encampment with over 600 apartments. So you want those 600 tenants along with their neighbors to have to deal with all of the garbage and crime that those homeless create while the rest of Allentown goes on its merry way of not having to deal with any of it. I understand your point about spreading the problem out ….its not that complicated and you’re not that smart. But keeping them all in one neighborhood is wholly unfair to those people living there. Even someone as stupid as you can see that!

I think Abe is saying it is better to keep them all at the same spot. He didnt say keep them there. He also said it isnt smart to spread them apart. What the mayor did is inhumane, and moronic. He didnt and doesnt have a plan for these people. So it might not be fair for the 600 but it isnt fair for 80,000 people in the city to now have to have deal with it either. If your so smart what is your solution? You havent given one.

ABE, I would like to put a plug in for gnat his apt seem to have well occupancy of paying tenants and all with his OWN monies not the whole of pa and the childrens children stolen via cigarette taX via phone location. This seems to me as some sort of offshore betting scam of years past forgotten by many!)$? Not like the oneZ in the Zone that are claiming occupancy bay paying rents of empty apts so itZ can keep even more state taXes in itZ till!)$? Just another criminal insider trading from itZ insemination that all involved should be charged under the RICO act!)$?
