It looks like a special election will occur next year to determine who represents Pa 22nd state house district next year.
Since Siegel is resigning. Who cares. To start his county executive position. God help us all. The seat is up for grabs.
Basically anyone can run, so I encourage everyone too. Make this election super fun for the voters. The Democratic and Republican parties will choose who they want to represent them in the special election. The term will be for one year, with a primary and general election to occur as well for the 2027 and 2028 years.
So far two candidates have emerged. Cece Gerlach a current city councilwoman. Who has earned some points last week, before she voted on raises for the mayor office by asking, "what has the mayors office done." Slap equals face. I loved that. So true.
Cece's agendas tho arent the best. She isnt a fan of the police, and advocates for the homeless which isnt a bad thing, but remember her homeless bill of rights? Will her past arrest of leaving a minor at a homeless camp who then allegeded to be sexually assaulted weigh in on voters?
Added 0810pm. Gerlach was arrested for leaving a minor at a homeless camp in which said minor said he was solicited for sex. Gerlach claimed she followed procedures however ran out of money to fight the charges. She took an ARD deal.
The other candidate so far is Julian Guridy, an aide to state Sen. Nick Miller.
I honestly dont know anything about Guridy except he is the son or former councilman Julio Guridy. Is his name recognition going to be enough tho? Or does he have some qualifications and attributes that will make him more appealing than Gerlach.
I know this isnt an exciting election but it is still important. Maybe we will see another candidate or two emerge. Lets just hope it isnt anyone who is in charge of any departments within the city.

Please correct the comment of the minor being sexually assaulted. That person is now an adult and said how Cece in fact followed directions from her supervisors and was NOT sexually assaulted. I would hate for you to be sued for erroneous information.
Guridy is also the brother of a thief. His brother was arrested I believe with 2 other people for stealing people’s identity. WHY ISN’T ANYONE SPEAKING OF THAT.
My brother is a currently in prison and I have never even had a traffic ticket.. Does that make me the same as my brother or vice versa? The more disturbing part is he is backed by that crook Tuerk.
Guridy works for a pro ICE Democrat. Maybe he's not pro ICE, but he wasn't able to sway his friend in voting. What makes you think he'd be able to sway Republicans
Please, please, please! Vote for Ce-Ce! Anything to get her out of Allentown. Trust me, she can do far less harm being one of a hundred Dems in Harrisburg than one out of seven here. Her exist will at least remove one leader who is determined to make a dystopia of our city.
Of course those of us who bother to stay abreast of the news know it is truly too late to save Allentown anytime soon. I predict it will get much worse before it gets better, and there is no guarantee the latter will ever happen. Matt's new zoning code alone will increase density and homelessness in the downtown and surrounding neighborhoods such as West Park. Surely disorder, litter, crime and blight will proliferate there, and spread outwards in every direction. After 30 years in the city we know the game is up, fighting for our city and neighborhood is a lost cause. It's not a good time to move anywhere right now but as soon as the housing market opens up we and many other homeowners will leave the city for a saner place to live.
I have known Julio Guridy for thirty years. He is a good man in every regard. If he had won the mayor's race 4 years ago Allentown would be a much better place, and the future would be brighter than than bleak. Please note that slanders often come unsigned. Doesn't that say it all?

I agree that Julio Guridy is a good man 💯. He really could have been the first Latino mayor of Allentown.
Instead we have a Temu Labubu occupying the mayor’s seat and a trilobite as his most trusted advisor.
Guridy is a part of that Schweyer, Mann, Tuerk, Siegel, Sclossberg crew. No thanks.

Cece is a sellout to Allentown actually. She is afraid of her own shadow and will give in anytime Matt Turk bullies her. She plays forceful at the Dias but weak in the background .

ABE it must be Guridy's criminal brother that has been contracted CEDC of the valley to import the bedbug infestation to the organization Guridy is in charge of currently Allentown Housing Authority. Guridy and and another board member did this very same thing to incubate urban blight because of these very same types of varmints that spread blood born disease infecting all inhabitants. They have taken entire city blocks and turn there varmints lose that they bread at undisclosed part of the muti million dollar land holdings. This is why Jennings has made his departure to consultant consulting of this human service farce.
