So I wasnt going to write anymore for the holidays, but once again Tuerk didnt let me down. Probably because he is as predictable as the sun rising and setting each day.
The mayor decided to veto councils decision on not raising the taxes.
Council President Hendricks would have to call a special meeting/vote to override the veto.
Yes, someone has to step up. Will Hendricks atleast do the ethical thing and let the full council vote or will he tank it?
Matt sorry but you're a turd. You haven't been successful at passing a reasonable budget without resorting to threats (yeah definitely after the last council meeting), name calling, and bullying tactics.
You can't pass a budget unless YOU VETO IT!!! You really need to take a look at your inflated salaries and positions before you ever ask the taxpayers to give the city more money from their hard earned paychecks.
While your scraping by this holiday season, go look at the bosses salaries. Then decide if you really want to work in the city anymore. Or for the Unions, don't spend your whopping 3% raises if you even get them when these useless few take home $9,000 raises.

ABE please do story on all of non bargaining increases over this mayor’s term , I’m sure your results will open eyes 👀 it’s amazing how NO budget cuts were made to make up budget shortfall in place of tax increases.
Slimy is as slimy does with its floaters being it's tasty tidbits.
Sadly Matt Tuerk likes to watch people suffer. He wants everyone to pay more in Allentown so he can build his empire in the mayor’s office. He is already looking for a replacement for Genesis Ortega and I am hearing his Manager of Civic Innovation left suddenly and Matt was approaching one of his favorite girls in the city to take the job before the manager was even out of the building the same day.
He is requiring citizens to pay more in taxes and trash in 2026.
Let us not forget he is 8 days away from the end of the year and the expiration of the SEIU contract. Rumor is that the city and the union are nowhere near a deal.
Matt should throw money at SEIU just like he did for the fire and police department. He is also pushing to hand the police department a DROP pension.
Matt Tuerk refuses to make any budget cuts and just wants to win his way because he thinks he is the most liked and most powerful mayor. SEIU and the city deserve better.
I am sorry. What is the DEI Manager doing to stop these staffing injustices in the city. The mayor is playing games with people’s lives.
Where is HR? Sounds like they all are just collecting paychecks…typical government waste.
Government waste like the CED Director who talks down to all brown and black people should be eliminated first.
All of those cabinet level positions need salary cuts !! Way over paid !! Plus SUV to take home each night !!! Wow what a deal thanks Allentown tax payers!! See you next year for new raise !!
“I am disappointed but not surprised,” Hendricks said. “I felt that we should have come to a compromise, and I will do everything in my power to see if we can perhaps reach one.”
For real? You are just like O’Conell. Protecting baby boy until the end, even if it means laying down with the dogs. Your compromise will be “do nothing” because you fear retaliation from Pee Wee.
His critics should consider running for mayor. The job pays squat and you get bombarded with stupid know it all options like honest abe and his commenters. 30 somethings leave jobs all the time. They ladder up for better pay and easier circumstances. Any one with a brain can figure this out. Better pay for committed staff is needed to compete in the marketplace. That is part of the budget sensibility.
Wouldnt you be stupid too? U commented??
