What started as a way to vent about the issues and problems in Allentown has become a little more than just that. With your help and under 1 year of blogging we have hit over 125,000 views!!! And this post makes 151 published.
It is a little insane to think about that number. The target audience is not that big. But it shows people are reading and staying informed. There has been over 2200 comments as well.
My hope is to continue to show the truth behind the issues and decisions of those "in charge" of this City of Allentown. I also hope for leaders to start making better decisions and being more transparent. Better decisions means less posts and less embarrassment.

Pw gets money from UGI every year to re pave roads in city.
I look for traffic and parking on Front Street to become nearly impossible to deal with when all the new apartments are up and running. As it is, local treasure Egypt Star Bakery must be surviving solely on walk-ups. That Front and Tilghman traffic light will be a bear to get through.
I think they use the money for the street paving to cover the large salaries for the cabinet and loyalist to Tuerk. They also use the money to remove snow during winter storms.
Congratulations on the success of the blog, Abe. I appreciate you bringing attention to the stupidity that exists in City Hall and the even worst decisions by the council and the mayor. Maybe one day you can turn the entire blog into a coffee table book about how not to run a city?

I have always posted here and elsewhere under my own name. I frankly don't care if others don't like what I have to say. I can live with that, not a problem. This said, I certainly understand your need to be anonymous. Your blog has become the go to place for inside information and satisfies the need of many to vent about the ongoing suicide of what should be a lovely, well located, diverse city run by intelligent elected officials voted into office by thoughtful voters whose primary concern is what's best for our Allentown. Keep up the good work. Truth is the greatest weapon.

This has become my favorite Allentown news source. Too bad the big stations dont tell it like it is.
You might have heard that Councilwoman Affa spent quite some time and effort assembling a resident Quality of Life Committee to hear input on quality of life issues and develop recommendations for new or improved strategies to address problems. The Committee was appointed with a range of involved residents from each section of the city and they had their inaugural meeting recently. Well a reliable source revealed that Matt Tuerk mandated the committee be disbanded and will not allow them to conduct further meetings.
They even all lied to the first head about the fentanal deaths

Why does it seem that Council fears Tuerk? How can he disband a committee that was setup by council? He is a slimeball who thinks he has power. He needs to go -- the perception of power has totally corrupted his little brain.
Why they let him get away with as much as they do isn't surprising. Tuerk claims he can recite the charter by heart, but it reads that he needs to appoint a deputy when he is "absent" from the city. The city has needed his "leadership" twice this year and where was he? Using our tax money for trips we never hear anything more about. Seemingly no one can hold him accountable?
A former council member did but never got the support because the others were in the Mayor's pocket.
If you are talking about Zucal, you got him all wrong too. He is an even bigger sellout. He was all for making sure the mayor was held accountable until the claims of inappropriate behavior uncovered a racism and retaliation problem in council, then he started singing a different tune and suddenly abandoned everyone. He was worse than the people in the mayor’s pocket. At least you knew they were wolves.

You make no sense. Why would he associate himself with those kinds of allegations regarding his fellow colleagues. Remember they chamged their votes towards the Curtis Investigation not him. If I am correct he was not mentioned in any of the lawsuits.
He slithered into a hole after his colleague and friends on council were named for doing exactly what Tuerk was charged with.
Hendricks and Mota were mentioned after Affa’s racial tirade that lead to the clerk suing her and the city.

Candida's committee was disbanded because she only included Vicky Kistler and other hand-picked white people. Remember, she said "F black people" and it is documented in a lawsuit?
I can almost say for certain a friend of mine was visiting the downtown glory holes and told me it was his lips wrapped around something and the gag was a dead give away.

1. The post is obviously from the Mayor's Office and proves they read the blog daily.
2. It reveals the true racists. They believe even quality of life issues are race based and they assume the hand picked white people are all racists. The true racists that banned the committee can't even conceive of the possibility that Hispanics might also want clean, quiet and safe neighborhoods.
I love all the comments. But this post was supposed to be thanking me for all the dirt and keeping leaders (not actually true leaders tho) on the edge of their toilet seat every morning hoping they arent the topic of the blog.

The Task force is still going on.
The Mayor Objected to having citizens present. Threatened to shut it down by him, shutting it down means I can still have the test force. He can’t prevent me from that, but he can’t prevent me from having any city workers here. The chief of police, the head of economic development, the head of sweep the manager of disruptive conduct and nuisance abatement two city Solicitors three council people . The only people he can’t prevent from attending these meetings or the council people and the citizens every other person works for him. They are city workers and they work for him. If he tells them they can’t attend they can’t attend so it’s not the council cowards to him we only have a limit of what we’re able to do. This task force will be a failure. If I don’t have the people mentioned above, so I compromise and said I will not have the citizens attendance which I believe I had to do or I couldn’t have the task force at all. But I will figure out a way to keep these people informed and included. This is not anonymous. This is Candida.

The mgr. for DCR and Nuisance abatement is a Latin woman. I believe the chief of police is also Latin one of the citizens from inner city Allentown Latin.. The racist accusations against Vickie Kistler were unfounded. After a year and a half they have yet to prove I made any Racist remarks and I’m here to tell you I’m completely innocent, but that has nothing to do who was picked for this task force..All I’m trying to do is Address the quality of life problems we have in the city. The task force is something new and different. It’s almost like a think tank. Well, we will review codes. Try to apply new ordinances research with other cities. Do everyone are the task force is committed to help that are our quality of life. The mayor has his reasons for not wanting citizens attending, and I will respect those reasons. I may not agree, but it is what it is. He is the mayor.
Your commitment and diligence is commendable. But from what I have watched with council meetings is a determination to improve communication. Was the mayor on board before you took the steps of putting together a "committee" or a Task force? People get left off if no one thinks to include them. I follow the fb city council page and I would think this would have been a good page to discuss a task force.
After watching last week's meeting it seemed Council is tired of his nonsense. Put your money where your mouth is. Do another vote of no confidence or stop pretending!
This should not be a place to attack Candida because she is trying. I commend her as well for taking an initiative to listen to the citizens and residents of Allentown, something Matt Tuerk clearly has no interest in doing.his steps to stop the citizens involvement prove the same.
My issue is that Tuerk and council think he is omnipotent and all powerful. He is NOT and it is about time council members either start checking him and the administration or get off council.
A simple comment on a city sponsored quality of life committee. I always say, if you want something done form a committee to do it. We've all seen this many times here in Allentown. But why do we need a committee to explore the obvious? Everyone already knows what the main quality of life issues are, sadly we have become experts, here are my top five. 1. Noise 2.litter and blight 3.rampant violations of traffic laws. 4.the parking authority 5.Crime and disorderly conduct.
I cant wait for the "how your tax dollars are being wasted" article. In fact, I'd love to see a citizen advisory commission formed to investigate how much tax payers money goes to fund the domestic [and foreign???] travel expenses of the administration with an investigation into the benefits to determine if such travel is a worthwhile and proper use of such funds.

Such a committee need not be created or sponsored by city government. Years ago a group of civic leaders formed a committee to get Systematic Rental Inspections legislation in front of council and when that failed, as Allentown's first and only initiative. The same could be done now. We don't need government approval, guidance, or sponsorship to investigate the government.Anyone interested?
