How to Impeach

As expected the mayor didnt even try to put even a half ass Memorial Day service for the fallen hero's of this country. Worse than that the flags outside of city hall weren't at half mast. You literally are the biggest problem this city has.

Mr. Siegel even had a nice Facebook post for memorial day. Tuerk couldnt even do one. Why? Are you away again on some useless trip? Cant wait to see where you go next and who you take with.

Now to the real meat.

How Allentown residents can Remove a useless Mayor. Here is a guide to the Impeachment Process. I'm excited.

You can tell alot from a persons eyes.

If you live in Allentown, and hate it you’ve probably wondered at some point: What happens if the Mayor seriously messes up? Can they actually be removed from office?

The answer is fuck yes — but there is a process.

The process is spelled out in Allentown’s Home Rule Charter and follows specific rules designed to balance accountability with due process. Here’s a straightforward breakdown of how it works.

When Can the Mayor Be Forced Out of Office? Hopefully asap.

According to Allentown’s Home Rule Charter, the Mayor shall forfeit office if they:

First he went to Panama to work for an outdoor advertising company and the result was the United States gave back the fucking Panama Canal and asked Panama to keep him lmao.

Then the guy worked at an economic development corporation and he was demoted and stayed.

Back on track

A. No longer meet the qualifications (never did meet any) required for the office (either under the Charter or state law) at any point during their term.

B. Violate any explicit prohibition written in the City Charter. Please go look. I'll reserve my thoughts.

(Would the audit of his travels that council requested and hasn't followed up on count?  Didn’t Frank Kane state he had the numbers but wanted someone more qualified than him to verify before he gave them up.  That was like 3 weeks ago) The numbers may have been stored in his phone.

C. Are convicted of any crime classified as a misdemeanor of the second degree or higher.

Step-by-Step: How the Removal Process Works

Initiation

The process usually begins when formal charges are brought or a petition is filed that clearly outlines the alleged misconduct. This can come from citizens, Council members, or other officials.

Investigation

City Council typically votes to authorize a committee (them and their committees) to investigate the claims. Which I think the citizens should so it is done right and unbiased. This is where a mayor tries to influence Council members to bloch the investigation.

"I'd shit my pants if this mommy came running after me"

Uses scare tactics to break weak members. I.e. Mota, Gerlach, Affa, Napoli.  Evidence is gathered and witnesses may be interviewed. If council were to bloch the investigation then a petition would be started to remove them. You can go round and round. Waste their time like they do ours.

Public Hearing

A formal public hearing is held. The mayor has the right to appear ( or zoom from some city paid for trip), present evidence, call witnesses (not friends), and defend himself. (Defend this) These hearings are open to the public, so transparency is built in. Transparency ha, something the mayor and council know nothing about.

The Vote

After the hearing, City Council members vote on whether to remove the official. A supermajority — usually two-thirds or more of the Council — is required to actually kick someone out of office.

Legal Safeguards

The entire process must follow both the Allentown Home Rule Charter and Pennsylvania state laws regarding municipal officers.

Cutting corners isn’t allowed. Only allowed when they do it.

Can the Removed Mayor fight Back?

Yes. They can.  They can appeal the Council’s decision in court.

Bottom line: Removing an elected official in Allentown isn’t quick, or even easy but the Charter provides a clear roadmap if one wants to try.

Also an impeachment attempt on a mayor whether they leave or not will surely ruin any attempt at a future political office. Which is what we all want.  Council could always to another vote of no confidence which would damage his resume even more.

I have to add this.

The Allen boys baseball team won 3-2 over Northampton to move onto the district finals to play Stroudsburg at 7pm at Desalles University. Hopefully, it isnt a good game and the Canaries blow them out.  I am as excited for this game as I am of impeaching this fool.

Great meme from O'Connell. I remember the last no confidence vote Council did. I heard he's still pissed at Mota. That's the easiest and it's still has its lasting effects.

Good luck trying to impeach the mayor. Hahaha. He is the best thing to happen to Allentown in a long time and the very few neigh sayers are drowning in hate. The community overwhelmingly voted for Matt — i believe 80%+ of voters. That is far better than any other Mayor or elected official before him. Despite your unnecessary hatred and anger he IS YOUR MAYOR.
So sad that this blog spends so much time trying to discredit this overly popular mayor.

We get it Madam secretary, your in love. Can you give a list of his accomplishments so we can discredit them??

....and Hitler was popular in the 1920/1930s too.

Allentown citizens are getting the type of government they put into place. This is on Allentown citizens, no one else. If the city fails, it was a self-induced failure by stupid voters . . . nothing more. Don’t blame this failure on Republicans, Independents, Trump, or any other target.

A vote of no confidence did nothing but increase his popularity. Are you ok? Wait! No you’re not. You are certified insane, Abe.

Tuerk is the greatest mayor of Allentown ever. He is our biggest champion and supporter. He removed the dead weight (Zucal, Hendricks and Gerlach) from Council. He has revitalized downtown, out parks are slowly improving, we have free cool down zones and free pool days for residents during the heat, he has focused on small business growth, modernized the city, had more communication to residents than any predecessor. He is doing good things for Allentown.
His only negative is that he listens to a young in over her head advisor that is very disliked by the community and city employees.

Well damn…it is nice to see that the city administration is taking an active role in commenting on this blog in defense of their dictator.

It is laughable that anyone would defend him. He is a joke in the community and with the city employees. We all are counting down to the day the locks are changed at City Hall and Tuerk and his loyalists club are evicted from city offices. It’s coming.

I agree with anon@10:35AM. Tuerk and Hashaan be the best thing to ever happen to Allentown. One day soon they will be spending time together at the Hotel at 4th & Linden just reminiscing, La La La.

Isn't there a wall falling over in Allentown?

Matt is really pathetic and needs to go!
His Administration can’t stand him either.

Revitalized downtown? How? The NIZ- he wasnt responsible for that. No one goes downtown besides PPL and a few to the archer. Alot of restaurants left the shit hole. What parks are improving? They are filled with dominicians bathing in the waterways, littering and blasting music. Free cool down days and free pool days are a great idea to repay the millions it cost to redo cedar beach pool. Then the free days cause overflow and problems. Should charge double on hot days. Small business growth like barbers, multi service shops, and cell phones stores. Great help. Modernized the city? With a dumb Welcome to Allentown sign put in center city?

And he communicates to residents better than any previous mayor? How so, he doesnt come to council meetings and sends idiot Frank. He posts himself running around the city like a fruitloop saying oh theres a big pot hole.

The fact is he hasnt done shit except put the city in a bad financial position with all these bonds hes floating for police and fire. Constant union raises, absurd pensions. Proposed DROP pension. Yea he sure is the best mayor ever. You obviously work in his office and were told to write something positive. Your response is so broad and vague. Cmon give specifics of what he has done.

Kind of like Trump.

NIZ board runs this town, at least the 129 acres in Allentown. The other + 17,000 acres of folks, who have no say whatsoever, are controlled by hashaan and the browne and jb reilly motley crue since 2011. Besides being boring, it has gotten quite unAmerican down there. Take a drive through any day after dark and you get quite lonely if you're not wearing a baseball cap on backwards.

“Neigh sayers”? My God, you mean even the horses think Tuerk sucks?

Abe - Minor correction. When referencing the flags, the correct term is half staff.

Half mast refers to flags on a ship.

Watch the clueless Mayor appoint Anna who lost to Ce Ce as interim Controller since Jeff Glazier died.

The is no provision to “impeach” or remove the mayor in the charter, other than commuting an actual crime or failing to meet the few actual requirements in the Charter for those running for Mayor.

Unfortunately, being incompetent at the job (or simply doing an horrible job) isn’t a reason for removal.

I think that even if an attempt was made to add some sort of recall amendment to the charter, it would still be struck down in the courts as contrary to state law.

Now, would I like to see a vote of no-confidence in the Mayor? Yes, but I don’t see it coming from the current group on council. Unfortunately, most if not all are either rubber stampers who Tuerk backed in their elections, or those too unintelligent to offer a coherent argument for a vote of no confidence.

Unless residents start showing up in droves demanding such a vote, it will never happen.

Like it or not, we’re stuck with Tuerk for the rest of his term.

Finally, RIP Jeff Glazier.

I won’t comment on his performance as controller, but if residents want to make a change in City Hall, it would behoove them to quickly find someone qualified for the position and willing to put their name in the running to replace him.

Ideally, it will be someone who is independent of the Mayor and who will represent the taxpayers and not the Administration. Then you have to find the votes on council to get them appointed.

That likely has the same chance of happening as a vote of no confidence, so good luck with that.

Should read “…COMMITTING an actual crime.”

RIP Jeff Glazier.

While Mayor Tuerk is on his “sympathy/make this about me tour” let it be stated that Julian Guridy and Ana Tiburcio should not be considered for the City Controller job. One didn’t know basic requirements of running for office and the other doesn’t know where she is.

I am sure Tuerkey is salivating at the idea of a new controller. He can squash any inquiry into his spending.

It’s a toss up for “worst LV Mayor” between Tuerk and Mayor Fluff over here in Bethlehem. Although Easton isn’t far behind. All of them would rather fly Pride flags than support Memorial Day or our fallen soldiers. This is what happens when you let DEI run your city.

To the Mayor's office staff that read this blog daily, I'm not a hater in fact, I voted for Matt and thought he would be a better Mayor than other candidates. I certainly don't think there are grounds for impeachment, but I have concluded that the Mayor is incompetent and anxiously/greedily exploits the perks of the office. Look no further than the trash contract debacle in which residents faced highly increased rates and reduced services. I now have a bag of yard waste in my garage for 12 days in peak growing season since Matt reduced yard waste collections to bi-weekly. This is an essential service which now costs more and has less frequent service. The constant travel [flights, lodging & meals] and his blatant/ shameless self promotion on said trips is galling to tax payers in the poorest municipality in the region who are struggling to keep up with tax, utility and insurance increases. This isn't what I thought I was getting when I voted for Tuerk for Mayor.

Tuerk is the worst!

My bet is that the Democrats will appoint Ana Tiburcio as the Controller. I can see it all now. This would work out perfectly for Tuerk. Under Tiburcio as Controller, he might just get a tax payer funded junket to the Moon (to promote Allentown of course - not himself)!

Zucal should be the next Controller! What a great idea. There has been no one who has kept the city administration in ✅ better than Ed Zucal. #EdZucalforController

How about the lady that he fired after he discriminated against her? Wait, that may be too vague. The young lady that attends council and reminds us that the Tuerk administration is racist, retaliatory, and fundamentally evil. She would have my vote.

Are their pockets getting lined??

I listened to the council meeting last night. The biggest concern was Bill 20 which concerns the approval of data center ordinance language...
