Memorial Day

Memorial Day is a time to pause, reflect, and honor the men and women who gave their lives in service to our nation. Their sacrifice is the reason we live in freedom today. May we carry their memory with gratitude, humility, and resolve.

God Bless,

Abe

Abe - Thanks for reminding your readers what the day is all about.

If I could throw out a few suggestions for those who want to go the extra mile:

1). Attend a Memorial Day event honoring the fallen.

2). If you know anyone who’s lost a family member while serving, do something nice for them. Take them out to dinner, mow their lawn, etc. You get the picture. Just let them know they’re not alone.

3). Make a contribution to an organization that helps the families of the fallen. There are some good ones out there that help spouses keep up on their mortgages, their children pay for college, etc.

I know the last two above are more centered on the families of those fallen than the fallen themselves, but I can’t think of a better way of honoring our heroes than doing something nice for the families they left behind.

God bless all who paid the ultimate price for our nation.

Although today is a day or remembrance of the fallen - May God bless and protect those currently serving and those who have served our great nation.

I don’t want to take attention away from the reason for this day of remembrance, but our mayor is a liar and a fraud and the ignoring of veterans by city of Allentown is disgraceful.

Mr. “show-up” was on WDIY recently talking about being there for your community. Countless Allentown and PA men and women have responded to the call to serve our country throughout history. Clearly “show-up” has caveats and provisos.

This mayor refuses to recognize our veterans and those who have sacrificed time and time again. This is a collective slap to the real heroes of our nation by Tuerk and his administration. The flags in front of City Hall aren’t even at half staff as required by federal law.

Thank you to APD for the social media posts.

Mayor Tuerk - you can go to hell.
