What is even happening with Allentown right now. For real. Today was the big Blues, Brews, and BBQ thing and it was basically Blues, Brews, and BIG FAT BUST.
Nobody came. Like, zero humans. Not “a few.” Not “slow start.”
I mean ZERO, like the city hit the mute button on the whole town.
And honestly, duh. We just had two shootings in two weeks downtown. TWO. Back‑to‑back like some kind of awful “double feature.”
Who is gonna go stand around eating BBQ when bullets been flying lately. I’m not trying to be on the news as “random bystander #3,” thanks.
Only people there were the workers who had to be there and Sherri, who looked like she got lost on her way to Walmart.
And yeah, the city did their usual trash job advertising it. Like maybe a few flyers taped to telephone poles somewhere in the west end. But honestly, even if they screamed it from the rooftops, nobody’s showing up when the city feels like a
DANGER ZONE. Safety first, BBQ second.
And because Allentown can’t go five minutes without acting up, the dirt bikes were back again, buzzing around like they forgot they annoy everyone. APD walked around and did nothing.
What really fries my brain is I KNOW they’re gonna pretend it was a win.
They’ll post some cropped picture of a table and be like “Great turnout today!”.
Meanwhile the whole community is staying home because we’re tired of the violence and tired of City Hall acting like everything is fine and crime is “down.”
If the goal was to show how out of touch City Hall is, then wow. Congrats. You nailed it. The empty streets today were basically screaming louder than any public comment ever could.

I went and left within 20minutes. Awful this year.
When you’ve built up so a lousy reputation as a city you just can’t expect many people not living within walking distance of your downtown to venture inside.
I’ve said for years, having to leave your car in a parking deck that is unmonitored, probably dirty, and gives you a feeling of being alone and vulnerable to all the local hood rats who rampage about your city without any effort to control disorderly behavior . . . . well, who needs it?
I did not attend that event, but evidently, neither did many of the claimed renters living inside those bland apartment buildings, even on a perfect weather day.
I was there twice...thoroughly enjoyed myself. The food was good, music was better...the only spanish music was coming from amigos...why?.. granted, not as good or big as in years past. Im sorry I didn't run into scary Sherri, but I did see our beloved mayor riding his bike. I remember her on a ten speed in her younger years cruising around 10th and Linden.
A whole lot of police...is that the overtime everyone's talking about? Overtime for city workers to park a dumptruck to block a street, and let it idle so the driver has ac? How much was that?
Definitely should have advertised more..
I went by snd it was definitely packed with vendors and the music was blaring but the attendance was certainly lacking. I don’t think this is.a city event so I am not sure if they should be blamed for the poor communication. The poor attendance may have just been a result of a beautiful day and people found other things to do outside Allentown
Went to the Bethlehem Rose Fest at the Bethlehem Rose Garden instead and it was a much less hyped event with lots of people and a beautiful setting in a very nice town.
I've gone to BB &B in the past, but I'm too put off by the lack of clean, comfortable and shaded areas to sit and relax. Plus, I'm fed up with the electric bikes/scooters on sidewalks, dirt bikes and pot aroma wafting out of all the cars with the tinted windows in downtown. They should find a new location with more shade, a safer environment and better police enforcement of quality of life issues.
The city should partner with an outsourced events provider like Bethlehem. Our events are the Ollie’s Bargain Basement of the Lehigh Valley. Every year same shit—St Luke’s 5k, some odd LGBTQ parade, Blues, the broke down Car Show, and several cultural festivals that could benefit from an organization like ArtsQuest.
Another serious injury on the streets of Allentown this weekend.
Tuerk’s “Vision Zero” is another one of his failing initiatives. It’s mostly planning documents, dashboards, and poor messaging. The data simply doesn’t show improvement on our streets.
Watch for Matt to be out at the scene of the crash placing another speed bump.
What happened? I don’t think I read about this one anywhere yet
May be nested in this collage: South 4th St was the busy place Friday night. Passing through around 9:45, saw about 100 vehicles and maybe up to 100 people, many carrying bottles, in the Price Rite lot. Lots of other people grouped in the cars. APD cars with flashing lights in front of Aaron’s furniture. A little after 10:00, bunch of rumble bikes go south on 4th St. Around 10:10-10:15,, two APD, AFD, and AEMS scream south too. They tend a patient laid out on the pavement near Wells Fargo bank. Car was stopped some yards in front of patient. Don’t know who was involved, witnessed, or acted as Samaritan, if someone besides the patient caused their condition, or nature of their lying flat on their back, except for the C-spine stabilization.
Is 11:11 what 9:12 was talking about, or is there another?
It’s like this. The youngest generation of the new MAJORITY Allentown population is not always representing itself in a positive way. Surely, there are exceptions to this criticism, like the Allen High baseball team, etc., but generally speaking, the cultural image is one of hooliganism and disrespect for others. This is NOT a welcoming and attractive face that would better serve any city. It is a look of neglect, abuse, and selfish entitlement.
Blame for this decline lies mainly with their parents, city political leadership, the police department, and a local news media, primarily the Morning Call, who buries its head in the sand so as not to offend anyone, possibly even due to a sense of fear. Regardless, Allentown is circling the drain and now largely ignored by persons living elsewhere throughout the Lehigh Valley.
This past weekend, my wife and I spent about a half hour visiting the newly refreshed Andre Reed (Irving Park). We had not set foot there in many decades. The new concept splash/swimming pool is absolutely spectacular. The young people staffing the place as lifeguards, etc. were wonderful to speak with and the immediate grounds were neat and tidy. As former residents of the East Side we felt some small sense of pride in what is being made available to today’s nearby residents. But we also questioned how much longer will this all be kept up and respected given the declining attitude of too many younger city residents being displayed elsewhere every day.
Most of allentown was attending the Washington party having a great time there watching the goings on. This while allentown is going down the sewer like most of California the new design model coming to PA.
Off topic, but can anyone explain to me why the work on the covered bridge appears to be halted, and why the traffic lights at 6th and Walnut remain out of commission?
The covered bridge was disassembled and the “work” has been going on for a year. Meanwhile the traffic lights at 6th and Walnut have been out of commission since Christmas! What gives?
These aren’t difficult projects, and shouldn’t take that long.
Did the city run out of money for basic repairs (like traffic lights)? Did the city transfer funds intended for the covered bridge to cover the cost of the mayor and his staff gallivanting across the globe to expensive conferences with dubious benefit to the taxpayers?
The state of these projects is embarrassing, if not criminal.
The city had to reallocate money to cover Tuerk's travel expenses. Unfortunately, the bridge and the traffic lights had to suffer.
It is a city event and the events team and mayor's office failed on communications this year. As a vendor at the BBB I can tell you that we were asking the team at special events to do more advertising and media vignettes. They were non-responsive and they failed.
You still have 3 1/2 years of travel expenses to pay for. Since Reilly, Miller and Ana all love the Mayor maybe they can donate some money to the city.
The best is yet to come "Michelle Oboma is a man" and there's only two types givers and takers?
As for allentowns stolen revenue, there is a problem with stolen revenue from the whole of pa for allentowns failing farce real-estate scams infecting all the area because there all patting each other's asses!
Nobody may have gone to feast on flesh at the Fest. But the Green Door sure was packed, meat sticks were greedily gobbled, the blue juiZe flowed, floats failed to get flushed, and hard working closeted married men emptied out their baby butter into a bouquet of booties¡

Nice propaganda piece Abe, how can you report on an event you didn't attend ? Your a straight clown homey totally jelly of Matt Tuerk and his myriad of life successes while your a punk anon trolls who probably can't even ride a bike let alone pop wheelies got blocks like our youngster's do on the regular!
Matt Tuerk is a total Chad, bilingual, tatted up, bike commuter, marathoner, meanwhile Abe lives in constant resentment as the epitomy of BETA inceldom; no tats, monolingual, LANTA pass holder, owns multiple fleshlights BMI worse than an average Samoan!
TheZe itZ are butt relocated gobblerZ that are receationZ of the hudZonZ floaterZ trying to make relevance with there reZidualZ!)$?
Surely Matty will find a position in Atown for Crazy Ed when he gets out of the pokey next week. Happy Days be here again. Hey Scott Curtis, c'mon back!!!
Abe is a provincial rube who rarely leaves the county, Hermano Tuérk is an urbane sophisticated intellectual whose passport reflects a passion for travel and cultural exchange. Abe probably eats manwich sloppy joes 7 days a week while Matteo's dining on a variety of healthy ethnic cuisine from mofongo to vegan banh mi's prepared with locally sourced organic veggies
Hermano Tuérk: effortlessly dances Salsa, rumba, and flamenco styles into the witching hours
disHonest Abe; gets winded after 15 seconds of low energy "Trump" dance imitation
I do believe Matty's organic veggies come from the banks of the Lehigh under the eighth street bridge.
Ol Twerky be gettin' tired doin all dat dancin with shaved legs.
I get the feeling Bill Villa has been here!
Abe pays his own way..Tuerk seeks self-indulgence and glamourous life through via taxes paid by the hard working citizens he claims to advocate for. I'd be impressed if Tuerk had too much work to do to squander time and money on tax payer funded vacations and saved money by packing Manwich sandwiches for his lunches.
Hermano Tuerk is a closeted gay with a beard for a wife. His passport has stamps from countries he was only able to visit by stealing from the taxpayers of Allentown. His low class self would never be able to leave Allentown otherwise.
The lehigh does not flow under the 8th st bridge
The Silver Fox just had a big victory over coddled cousin Jeffrey and is riding high, he should start blogging again and expose the nattering nabobs more often!
midGetZ of the MidWaY flock to the dark recesses of the RumPuz rooM, to partake in the Moody Bible ManZ manshake Imbibing the baby batter with sinful gluttonY only SeeN in SodoM and GommOraH!
Comrade Tuerk has sacrificed his body and exposed it to the elements for a regular cycle commute eliminating vast quantities of CO2 emissions, capitalist swine like Dis Honest Abe worship an anti woke agenda and sought to cast wokeism as some sort of failing.
To be woke is noble, these folks see the big picture and have empathy for their BIPOC brothers and sisters in perpetual solidarity.

Hermano Tuérk is an elite athlete with a vO2 max similar to Lance Armstrong in his prime, his dance moves are legendary in the LatinX community and has even had AfroCarib brothers and sisters in awe at his propensity to moonwalk out of nowhere
Why was the comment about Boyer having Tuerk appoint her boyfriend to a board deleted? It’s the truth. I am disappointed Abe.

You are right. The problem is I accidentally deleted it and once that ls done I can't restore a comment. Please feel free to repost. I value everyones freedom on speech. Threats and highly inappropriate comments I can make sense of, (not the spillz JuiCe in da back alley aT the red Doorz) person will be deleted. I write my blog and people can comment how they like.
Abe it's so wrong of you to bash an event which you didn't even attend and many worked hard to pull off. This blog is more revolting than Republican Redd's Fifi
Who knows if Abe attended or not. I did. And it was poorly attended. It wasnt pulled off. It barely hung on. 4 people in front of the stage on WFMZ.
Who would date THAT? I don’t believe it to be true. Do they have their senses of hearing, sight, and smell?
The smells of the ravenous human services workers are of the most fruitful from the cisternious places were there travels take them.

I need a good stretching/gaping this Friday at El puerta verde, make sure your ready to breed silly rabbit!
i'd hit
He’s also a lying and cheating crook just like Lance Armstrong
X aren't you a freakqunt flyer in palumpas rumpus room bringing your baseball bat grased up for gappings? Than again you could be jennings first anul conquest jack addict or even the still employed b Dougherty. The circus carnival acts will be drinking the blue cisternious juice most locals love to imbibe in instead of swimming in the covered pool at kline Island before blending takes place!
