How safe are the roads in Allentown? Today Mayor Tuerk, and Chief "Naked Gun" Roca urged Allentown residents to drive safe. Vs. Driving recklessly????
County Coroner Daniel Buglio said "Lehigh County has already seen 37 roadway deaths in 2025, about a 20% increase from 2024."
Officials spoke at 7th St./ Tilghman St. citing the intersection as the worst in the city. So stay away from there.
Tuerk spoke on behalf of his grand plan of Vision Zero- a citywide plan to achieve zero roadway deaths and serious injuries by 2030. Speed bumps, line painting, churros/ bike lanes and maybe some roundabouts will all make this happen. Maybe on Mars.
So are their robots driving the electric cars in 2030? No deaths or serious injuries? What kind of plan is this, and why hasnt Trump used this genius idea to roll out over the country? What's the plan for zero crime called? Vision New Chief?
Chief Naked Gun spoke about driving safety stating "Ladies and gentlemen, this is about personal responsibility.” Roca also claimed the Allentown Police department will be out in full force at Wawa and Dunkin Donuts, so dont drive drunk and get hungry. You could be in for a problem.
Buglio expressed concerns about motorcyclists crashing. I could only imagine roundabouts and speed bumps making it easier for motorcyclists to maneuver around the city.
This is a dumb press release, look at me photo op. We all know how dangerous streets are. Quit blowing smoke that your vision is going to stop vehicle deaths. I mean this is not worse than borrowing $134 million.

A pedestrian was hit by a car near 15th st this morning. Does this count towards Vision Zero?

Driving anywhere in Allentown is like driving bumper cars... no rules... More than once I have nearly been T-boned or T-boned some bonehead that blasted thru a signal or sign at speed. My street sounds Pocono on race day, but where are the police??? My area seems, for all intents and purposes, to be a police "no go" zone. Change my mind!!!
Driving on American Parkway is like a racetrack in the morning. There will always be accidents there. Where is the money to implement this so called Vision Zero plan coming from.?
It goes back to enforcement, or lack of it.
I’ve seen cars racing during the day on narrow city streets, with one car traveling the wrong way in the opposite lane. Like another poster here, I see (and hear) cars racing up and down my block, and it’s not just a few times a day.
If I can see all this wherever I go in the city, why can’t APD?
If they’re not going to put a stop to what they surely also see, there will be more deaths and injuries. They can install all the speed bumps they want, but unless every block is getting a speed bump, all they’ll do is move the problem.
Simple quality of life issues not all this smoke up our asses i know these types have attractions to all things fecal!)$? The streets of Allentown overflows with shit and as history repeats itself the plague is here to stay infecting all venues Allentown!)$?
I think our local police are now so demoralized they choose to look the other way in most cases. I mean, why risk being charged yourself for some kind of misconduct over simple traffic and parking violations?
9:44 here again... I neglected to mention I have personally witnessed traffic infractions witnessed by officers in cruisers and no pursuit occurred, which led me to state Allentown seems to be a "no go zone"... I suppose the police don't want to tick off the offenders, yet I was pulled over for a turn signal that cancelled itself and I didn't notice it.
I think the police are being instructed not to be making traffic stops from above.
Also, a large part of the problem is electric bikes and scooters that weave through traffic in any direction they choose, or even use both the streets and sidewalks.
Beyond that, there needs to be some education for pedestrians (especially ASD students) who seem to think that because they are in a crosswalk they always have the right of way. They don’t. There are many intersections that are signalized for pedestrians, and the “Don’t Walk” signal means don’t walk.
Throw in people who think it’s wise to a) double park and b) discharge passengers on the street side of their vehicles instead of curbside, and it’s a miracle there aren’t many more deaths in the city.
I dont think the police are told not to police, but are afraid of not being supported or backed by their bosses if they make a mistake. I mean they are human.
This is a wild take. No one supports the police more than Tuerk himself, as evident by the denial of any wrong doing. There are numerous lawsuits against the APD for not just 1 reason. How is anyone supposed to trust law enforcement when they themselves do not follow the law. Roca is more concerned with being up Tuerks ass and his image than instructing his officers to do their fucking jobs, which include traffic violations.
