Broken record but its going to affect us all

Tomorrow be prepared for the beginning of a historic event.  I have warned ⚠️  you.  City council will be discussing the $134,000,000 bond to build a new police and fire station as well as a health bureau.  Some of the extra money will be used as follows.

I will ask that you contact city council members or show up at the meeting to oppose this disaster. The actual vote on this is Aug 20 at 630pm. I see the vote as 4-3 right now being Gerlach, Zucal, And Santos opposing it.  The other 4 economics and finance PhDs will most likely vote yes saying "we need to take care of public safety."

I dont care how the Mayor, Controller and Ms. Patel spin it, taxes are going up.  I am thinking around 7-8% to cover this loan.  The city doesnt have the money to pay for this, and isnt getting any influx of tax revenue going to suddenly appear.

I do not think this is the time to be doing this especially at a 7.15% interest rate.  I also do not think the police need a new station. Atleast not yet.

Furthermore, how can you spend $400,000 on a new fire station roof then build them a new station?  Just remodel the station at that point. Waste of money. But hey did anyone ever play monopoly without saying"screw this game" after 5hours into it?

Another reminder the actual vote is Aug 20th in which I will repost something before and after on this matter.

I am curious as to why the Morning Call hasnt written on this yet or WFMZ.

I encourage you to spread my blog to anyone that you know who lives in the city or even outsiders.

Jeff Glaizer is a bright enough guy but he is the consummate company man. He’s been a compliant tool
for the status quo…like forever.
His finger prints are all over the Allentown Parking Authority at this moment.
He has supported the most thuggish ASD Directors and eagerly dances to whatever tune Ed Meehan at Pool Trust pipes.

So yeah, between the ASD, the Parking Authority and the City, Jeff’s the guy.

Patel should have been inducted with Pawlowski. She’s an even bigger tool than Glaizer. She’s essentially the bagman for the hipster mayor. If you follow the money, you’re following Patel.

Mayor Matt is a stone incompetent, but anyone with an IQ above room temperature already knows that.
Does he really believe his own legend?
No.
He’s fully aware that he’s a fraud.

$21 million for a police station and $65 million for a combined Fire/EMS/Health station? Taxpayers are being ripped off on cost alone.

In addition, they are proposing to place the Fire/EMS/Health building at 4th and Turner. Anyone that has ever driven on 4th Street during the school year knows that area is already clogged with buses and autos picking up kids from Central Catholic. There is no place for those vehicles to move if a fire truck or ambulance needs to get through in that area.

The other projects are in no way critical. Do we really need $5.75 million for Canal park improvements and a bridge there so it’s easier for out-of-towners to take over the park each week?

Many of these projects are more in the realm of maintenance and should be paid out of annual tax revenue. Financing them over 30 years is the equivalent of taking out a mortgage to pay for your groceries.

This is a bill designed by idiots who can’t decide on proper priorities and are too stupid to understand the financial implications of approving this.

Double check your numbers and check what the 134thousand is earmarked for.

Call all you want, none of the players give a shite.
You can’t actually believe that this place operates like some sort of representative democracy, could you? The scripts have already been written. The votes are in the bag.

I agree Vote Zucal.

Abe- I find it very interesting that we have this Big Beautiful Bill for Allentown and the unsheltered community is not mentioned in any of the borrowing. The council and Mayor are so concerned about helping them?

Its 134 million and I posted whats it for dollar for dollar. No one cares about 134 thousand. What are you talking about?

Glaizer has been a Deadhead for decades. Goes to show that you can be a fan of counterculture music and still spend your life completely in the service of the establishment.

This City knows exactly and precisely what it's going to do and to hell with all of us!!! The plan(s) have been formulated, written and etched in stone... NO amount of belly-aching will change any of it or their supposedly "brilliant" ideas... after all, these "brilliant" ideas are from "edjumakated" people, far brighter than us! Just shut up and pay your taxes!!!
