Another Non-Profit Program

The Morning Call article announced that Allentown was selected by a national nonprofit (of course, always the non-profits) initiative to improve hiring and address public sector staffing shortages.

Allentown was "chosen" -- seems there is a fee that is paid based on tiers, not sure about the chosen claim for something that will cost the citizens. Mayor "Fibonacci" Tuerk is misleading us once again about a program to make it look like the city is doing something and secure votes, of course.

Allentown is second to be chosen behind another failing city, Kansas city. The city will host a workshop with city employees on recruitment efforts and help implement “innovative” and sustainable” recruitment strategies.

So this a basically an indeed for government employees???

Despite the budget possibly not being balanced the city has vacancies they are trying to fill. How can anyone say we cant help the homeless or struggling members of our community but the city always has money to fill positions and promote loyalists?

Tuerk stated: per Mcall

“When I took office, one of our biggest challenges was building capacity in city government,” Tuerk said in a written statement. “I saw firsthand how much it matters to have strong teams in place — because that’s what allows us to deliver for our residents. That’s why I’m proud for Allentown to be a Spotlight City, and grateful to partner with Work for America to keep building the workforce our community deserves.” Blah blah blah vote for me.

Allentown Employees

Also per mcall

“Allentown’s public servants don’t just do their jobs — they show up for their community with heart,” Caitlin Lewis, executive director of Work for America, said in a statement. Ms. Lewis I know we have narcon boxes throughout the city but you really shouldnt be smoking whatever it is you are. Tell me a "servant" that shows up for their community with heart? That is so not true at all. I have plenty of friends that are city workers, and they all say the same thing, "I cant wait to get the hell out of here."

Lewis goes on to say

“Mayor Tuerk embodies that same commitment, and we’re excited to spotlight the incredible people who make the city work.” Again, do you know Matt Tuerk? Did you meet him or a cardboard cutout? Do you know Allentown? The city runs, but it doesnt work. Your statement sounds a lot like your comments in Kansas City.

I think she met the cardboard cutout

Apparently, Allentown has already joined this Work for America’s “Civic Match” program which aims to partner laid-off federal employees with local public sector jobs.

So what I dont understand is that by offering jobs for federal employees that leaves out local citizens of Allentown does it not?

Morning call Lindsay Webber in her article posted

The announcement comes around three weeks after an outside investigation led by law firm Duane Morris found that the city’s human resources department is “severely dysfunctional.” I certainly hope the department has nothing to do with this initiative.

Hey Lindsay did you read the report that you are able to say that? I thought the Mayor and Morris said there basically no issues? My sources who may have a copy of a similiar report say, it is much much worse than Morris is saying.

Addendum 1pm

I found this out while watching WFMZ that Michaela Boyer, former H.R director and Mayor's assistant is involved with this program. Can't Tuerk find someone qualified?

Im so tired of hearing Tuerk talk about he is going to help people. We are waiting

Conversation overheard at Yoccos between a middle aged professional from out of town and an Allentown H.R. staffer over lunch.
•“So how many people work for the city?”
•”On any given day, about half of them.”

The amount of praise that Tuerk gets is unmatched. He takes credit for everything positive that has happened before, during, and probably after his administration, but when faced with something lacking, you get "that was before me." He had a vote of no confidence; how many lawsuits have been filed against the city and/or APD? He lives in delulu land.

Talk about a bunch of liberals spewing feel good propaganda?? I bet Tuerk had to spin terms like "innovative" and "sustainable" because those are the kind of terms that get fellow liberals excited to use tax payer money on wasteful government projects meant to make people feel good. This business of "building capacity in City Hall" cracks me up. Back in the Bill Heydt administration, City Hall had far fewer employees, but they were outstanding at delivering core essential city services. They didn't take junkets or drive fancy City owned sportscars around and Mayor Heydt, born and raised in East Allentown, certainly didn't try to act hip and cool. Just good essential service delivery with an eye towards financial austerity.

He's right about building capacity in the city. All the smart people ran out of here.Thank God we have him as our Mayor. The city would not exist without him. Just ask him.

Everything you said is 100% true. This guy's a clown show. He would be a star attraction with Barnum and Bailey.

I watched the meeting when they had the no confidence vote. Two-faced photo shop degree Dr. Mota voted for it. She fixed him good. She's been kissing his A$$ ever since. Personally, I think they have crap on each other.

If it weren't for lies and propaganda from city hall and most of the local media we'd have no propaganda at all.

That was the meeting where Candida yelled SHUT UP and referred to everyone as YOU PEOPLE.

That was one of the best council meetings I ever saw!!! Pure chaos

I actually feel sorry for Mayor Matt. He’s plenty bright enough to fully understand that he’s a total fraud.

One can be both bright and self deluded.

Maybe Miss Boyer will use her Starbucks recruiting techniques.

Given the current demographic of Allentown, you know, always looking for someone else to provide for themself, Tuerk is very likely to win re-election.
To these folks, government is Santa Claus. Wake up and it's already under the tree waiting. You don't care about how it got there, nor at whose expense, just get it there!

Leave the censorship to Molovinsky on Allentown.

Someone had posted the same comment twice. Probably by accident. I try not to censor anything.

Lets put an art sculpture on Hamilton.

Did you see the new statue placed in the 900blk of Hamilton St?   "The Abduction of Psyche” was placed outside the Archer Music Hall ...
