The Allentown police and the City of Allentown have taken snow removal to a whole new level.
On 69
news a woman reported and showed video of the police blasting their sirens
and driving with their emergency lights after midnight the other night telling residents over their loud speaker to move their
vehicles or they will be towed.
How are you supposed to sleep with that rolling down your block?

Is this how Mayor Tuerk goes about getting rid of the snow now? He sends out
crews after midnight to wake everyone up in this alarming manner when people are
trying to sleep. Mind you it has been two weeks since the snow fell
and we’re still doing snow removal? How pathetic. Remember the snow removal is mainly downtown. Your not seeing the streets on the westend or southside having removal.
Then you have the Allentown parking authority telling people that hey it’s not our fault the snow
isn’t removed, that’s the city’s problem. An APA representative stated the APA doesnt tow your car, a private contractor does. Okay, but who calls the contracted company, either APA or APD.
This is becoming such a joke that a major city cannot deal with a
foot of snow. This isnt the 1st time it has ever snowed in Allentown. This is simple. There is no plan from the city to the citizens on what is going on.
However, the residents are partly to blame too. You have people who can’t read signs that say no parking until the
snow is removed. That means no parking here until the snow is removed. If you
don’t understand that sign, that is not anyone’s problem but your own. And your car should be towed.
You don’t hear anywhere else around here
having these problems.
I truly hope the next time it snows there is a plan put into place for the citizens. I wouldn't blame the plow guys either, they are only doing what they are told under the direction of the overpaid public works director. Sorry Mark, but this mess falls on you and your boss.

You’re right Abe , accountability!! This Director is terrible at managing anything!!! This should have been done by now !! This is why there are so many problems!! No plan !!
I agree it's partly the residents fault, but when the signs went up and no snow removal happened for days, I would have parked back in front of my house too. Especially if I had a kid. Since it is 2 weeks out, they should be more prompt with removal knowing that parking is already limited.
Snow Removal involves Plowing and the right Heavy Equipment and Operators to scoop up the fresh snow and haul it away. These two operations need to be one plan that are integrated. Plowing alone creates exactly what we are facing today. Unfortunately, in this city government, nobody is accountable, except for the taxpayer who pays in all cases.
The citizens are definitely to blame -- they voted for this loser and don't hold him accountable. What has this dumbass really done for Allentown? Not a damn thing.
Social media is talking about how this mayor needs to be removed from office, but the same people are silent ever 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month when there are council meetings. Speak up and demand action or have him removed from office.
Council is no better -- they are completely silent as well. There should be better communication sent out by our elected leaders. Instead, the mayor is going on trips outside of the area and collecting his paycheck. Council doesn't give a thought to the city until 10 minutes prior to the start of the meeting. The Public Works director organizes ICE style raids at midnight on a Saturday with no notice.
This is what YOU voted for Allentown. I can happily say I did not vote for this clown.
The PW Director should put as much effort into managing the city as he does his properties and his other business ventures on city taxpayer time.
Newsflash... this is not the first time we faced this bullshit job! I'm here 40 years and twice they posted, made everyone move and then failed to show up for days. Twice we were left with one lane in the center of a two lane snow emergency route! And, yes, the police came in the middle of the night to roust the cars so they could plow. The city has no compassion for it's residents, not even the taxpaying, home owning residents. It's too bad they fail to approach crime, noise and other annoying bullshit in the same way they plow in the middle of the night after failing to plow while people were at work and not sleeping...... Once again, we get the double barrel middle fingers from the people we pay to run the city. And don't blame the poor slobs that are actually doing the work!!!
This is just an extension of our poorly cared for "washboard" streets.... and the list goes on and on!!!
I wrote in Zucal and this massive conflict of interests operating the city was cheated into its position. It now parks it's electric machine on a substandard public housing project that is now filled with so many zoning issues that slid by because of it. Now there are many others that can be Stated up coming and past because of insider trading and in kind gifts.
With all the theft that has gone on for years its only a cover for the supposid human services that really comes from the FED and each level of he'll going down siphons there portions for administrative costs!
