Just another day in Allentown

The city that never changes for the better but its leaders say everything is fine.

It was a rough weekend for juveniles in the city.  On friday night there was gun fire at an Eastside McDonald's.

Unreal you cant even get a Big Mac without possibly being shot at. Yea I'd like one McGlock with some bullets.  Like I can understand a back alley drug deal gone wrong shooting, but not McDonalds.

Saturday proved to be just as bad as a juvenile was seriously injured after being hit by a vehicle at N. 6th St./Hamilton St.  He was just walking across the street.  A speed bump probably would have prevented that. There is no way in 2030 there will be zero vehicular deaths.  What an idiot to proclaim such nonsense.

Also, the big Latin Festival on Hamilton was today.  Did anyone go and get shot?  I didnt go, because of one reason.  Remember the festival 2 years ago?  The one that made Fox, NBC, ABC and all the big news stations. You know, when Allentown makes the big news stations its only for mass shootings, corruption in the police department, etc. Nothing positive.

Id like to say its a good event for the city.  It brought people out.  It even brought out someone who crashed into a guy on a scooter and sent him to the hospital about a block from the event.

But did it bring any money into the city?  Was the parking authority ticketing everyone. Doubt it.   Or was parking free today? Probably. What other money could the city make off of this type of festival? Are they getting a precentage from the vendors or did they have to pay to set up? Doubt it. If the festival was entirely free for those that participated, then I think it was a waste because it cost the city money in overtime and other expenses. The goal is to make money morons. I swear this mayor, never took an economics class in Colorado. What I did hear actually happened was this festival was basically a democratic rally to recruit votes.  I saw Bob Brooks was there, and even the governor stopped to garner support.  All conveniently two days before the election.  I hope these guys realize most of the attendees were there to get drunk and party, not to choose a political candidate.   Boy the life of a politician, kiss the peoples asses, and make promises to people you dont give a shit about just so you feel you have some power.

But this here is ridiculous.  This was yesterday in hell. Look at all these assholes on their illegal bikes riding on the sidewalk, doing burnouts, and being outright reckless.

It was a vigil for the 23 year old who was killed on a motorcycle last week in the city.  I sure hope my friends act like this when I die. Just break the law, blast music, side on the sidewalk, ruin the neighborhood. Losers even cover their faces.

Such a nice way to honor someone.

You are probably wondering the same as me. Where are the police?

Oh Chief why arent you rounding up some of these people? Stop them, Take down their license plates and send them all tickets. Do something or retire.

It was just another day or weekend in Allentown.  Shootings, mayhem, recklessness.  But we are told everything is great.  The Mayor doesnt spend your money to go on useless vacations.  Good luck trying to explain how beneficial his trips to Madrid, California, and wherever he is going next week are, running a marathon, getting tattoos, and probably doing other weird shit. Oh crime is down.  City's bond rating is great.  I know the scam you guys pull to get a good rating.  Pretty slick.  Us in the know,  know you can't borrow 120million for a police, fire, and health bureau and have a good rating.

Wednesday council meeting may be decent.  Lets see whats on the agenda.  Im sure Frank will be fun to watch make up shit, not know the answers and promise things he cant come thru on.

The dirt bikes were insane. I couldnt believe what was going on. No police presence at all

Whatever happened to legitimate enforcement of such crimes as Disorderly Conduct, Littering, Disturbing the Peace, and other violations that negatively impact others in that city 24 hours per day? Not to mention all the traffic violations that are plainly obvious to anyone entering that boundary?

The governor even went to the Fiesta. Proclaiming he has all the illegals back. Another city going to shit. I didnt see Tuerk humping his leg tho for attention.

The losers on dirt bikes destroy any semblance of of quality of life in the city and the police are nowhere. BUT, leave your trash cans out too long or put them out too early, and your ticketed for ruining your neighbors quality of life!

As a long time reader, first time poster and life long City resident, I have to say that this was the worst weekend I can ever remember. The City has a serious public health, safety and welfare problem that simply cannot be ignored any longer. In my neighborhood, low riders, dirt bikes and motorcycles were speeding, driving recklessly and generating unthinkable levels of noise both days. The City is ignoring an environment of complete and utter lawlessness, chaos and anarchy quite honestly. We never once saw a police car. The 1 mile long motorcycle/dirt bike procession riding west on Tilghman and Ott Street was horrifying to watch. Unlicensed dirt bike veering at passenger cars, loud music blasting, kids without helmets on doing burnouts, wheelies and riding standing on seats was [all with 0 law enforcement presence] was unbelievable. Allentown government has to do something....this cannot be allowed to continue.

I no longer live in that city but can certainly believe what 7:30 AM wrote. The big question is, why is this allowed to happen day after day? Are the police so demoralized by inactions of the Police Chief and Mayor that the Officers are quietly thinking to themselves “Screw it, I not sticking my neck out, jeopardizing my family and future for these losers. If this is the city they want, they can damn well have it.”

To 7:30, I say if you are able to move to another municipality you really should do it. Allentown is finished in terms of civility to others and personal responsibility.

One compromise idea might be for the City to designate 1 Saturday per month from May - August as Moto de Cross Day and let them go crazy the entire day and then the peaceful and law abiding residents can make advance plans to go away on those Saturdays. Of course the City would need to clamp down on those riders who opt to go crazy on the other Satudays and/or all Sundays,

The event was actually very nice and a great showing of culture.
I am sorry Abe, but your claims that it was violent are absolute lies. The streets were littered afterwards but cleaned up quickly and returned to normal. You’re really a disappointment for writing such a deceptive article. I doubt you were there and just couldn’t wait to write an article trashing this event so your readers had something new to complain about on Monday.
It is obvious that you are a hateful person

I think Abe pointed out there was a mass shooting at a festival two years ago. Which did happen. Nothing was mentioned about any violence yesterday. Learn to read.

I personally saw the Tilghman Street takeover. Are you suggesting that a reckless, dangerous and lawless free-for-all meant to intimidate motorists and create chaos in the city's neighborhoods is a "great showing of culture" ????

I don’t need to learn to read.

This post is insanely racist and is misleading. Talk about fake news. Look no further than this blog.
The original title your dear Abe had referred to Allentown as the “ghetto” and baited readers to think something happened. Then he talks about coming to Allentown to get shot and the police do nothing? Come on.

Abe clearly has issue with the 54%+ of Allentown that aren’t white and will pounce on any cultural festival that isn’t about people like him and his culture.

I read this post differently than the haters and race baiter above. Abe spoke facts:
- there was a shooting 2yrs ago where police response was horrible. We saw fat cops running away from the incident.
- it was a very rough weekend in Matt Tuerk’s “Vision Zero” Allentown. The chaos on Tilghman did occur the day prior AND there was a shooting at McDonalds.
- Matt Tuerk lauds his efforts to add speed bumps but they were put in the west end neighborhoods. A speed bump would have helped the juvenile at 6th and Hamilton.
- the mayor is an idiot. He misrepresents and panders constantly. He is foolish for claiming zero incidents by 2030. He can’t even stay in Allentown long enough to put his ideas into action.
- the dirt bikes and lawlessness needs to be controlled. It is illegal and most importantly unsafe. Someone is going to get seriously hurt or die. Shame on the administration for ignoring this each year.
I asked Mayor Tuerk myself what he is going to do about it and his response was “how do you know they’re illegal” Arrogant and dismissive prick he is.

Abe brought up that the even it good for the city but paralleled this post with the craziness that seems to ensue during festivals and warm months.
The city events team needs to get better control instead of just collecting a paycheck.

Abe aren't you hispanic? You have said it several times in different posts. This person has their own narrative, nothing of what you wrote is racist or untrue. I was stuck on Tilghman St. in a sea of dirtbikes. No cops. Yes the festival looked nice. I didnt attend, but did it generate any money to the city is what was asked. You better check yourself as to who the racist is commenting your stupid shit.

Tuerk was there drinking the sweat off the Governor and looking like that same pathetic weasel he always has.

The city as well as the county and not limited to the State, seeing as the Governor participated. Thank GOD no life was lost as all three that participated and even encouraged could and would have lawsuit pending. This is just there agents seeking chaos before the real storm brewing with there bubbling boiling drinkable blue juice givin to those still on the plantation. I see grant monies is paying for many of these unlicensed tank scooters sold on 7th street?

The slander of racism is merely an ugly obfuscation. Decrying the display of worst aspects of unbridled male adolescent behavior is not racist. That is exactly what we all saw Sunday. Race or ethnicity had nothing to do with it. To honor a cyclist recently killed in an accident by putting on a massive display of irresponsible reckless biking is only inviting more of the same and more deaths of young males foolish enough to be impressed by such displays. Shame on them all!
