Oh Mr. Mayor you and Frank have out done yourselves and got caught again. My sources and loyal followers have confirmed our fearless leader is in Morocco.
You know that country in Africa.
Thats why he hasnt addressed the city face to face.
How many trips has he taken this year? Six, seven, eight? Frank better update his tracker, I hope it is electronic because it is changing weekly.
This time he is attending a “conference” in Tangiers, Morocco. Yet another exotic international destination. Is he with his newly appointed Manager of Civic Innovations Michaela Boyer again? How long have I longed for the days of our active Manager of Civic Innovations? The community was not ignored, and communications were plentiful from the city.
While we are all sitting here waiting for our Leader to lead and working our tails off to make ends meet, Matt is packing his bags full of sneakers and dirty ill-fitting suits and travelling the world for no apparent reason.
His trip can be dummied down to another networking event for government officials that are looking for a job soon. I cannot wait to see the public trip report for this trip.
Good luck dodging this Fraaaaannnk
If he is using city funds to pay for these trips, that is simply wrong. Taxpayer money is supposed to help the community, not help one person build his résumé or expand his personal network. But if the trips are paid for by outside organizations, that is also a huge problem. Accepting gifts and travel paid for by private groups creates serious ethical conflict. It makes me wonder what this trip sponsor expects in return — and we know Matt has no problem sending our tax dollars to organizations that sell him a promise to make him look better. That is exactly why rules exist to prevent this kind of thing.

Curious is their a Starbucks over in Morocco?
On topicMayor you can't be transparent about your trip and its killing you because you are missing out on all this media coverage relating to the monster fire last night.

Not only should we know what these trips are costing, but we should also know if any family members or friends are accompanying any city employees (including the mayor) on the trips. I don’t care if they’re paying their own way, work should be work.
Trips by the Mayor should be reviewed in a public meeting ahead of time (for purpose, estimated cost, benefit to city taxpayers, etc.), and the Mayor should make a public report to council (for final cost, what was learned, etc.) upon his return.
Those are the basics that seem to escape our council members, and the mayor obviously has no interest in personal accountability.
Meanwhile, while the mayor is supposedly out of town learning new tricks to benefit the taxpayers, the rest of us get to enjoy the crime, crumbling streets, litter, and falling quality of life in the city.
The mayor doesn’t have to go anywhere exotic to learn what some believe is the latest and greatest, he just needs to stay here and focus on the basics.
This was a scholarship funded by the Union of Cities and Local Governments. Mayor Tuerk presented and was involved in housing, violence and youth climate action. That organization paid for lodging, airfare and conference fees and the mayor paid the rest personally. It’s a fair question, Abe. That’s the answer.
It’s also important to note that in all seriousness, we have protocols for these situations. Our emergency response yesterday was tremendous. This was a brutal, dangerous fire and our emergency services fire, EMS and police kept everyone safe. We had no fatalities and only one minor firefighter injury.
We were supported by fired departments and EMS from all over the county. As well as lehigh county emergency management.
Resurrected life church, Union Baptist, catholic charities and the Red Cross all worked to help with the people who were displaced.
The community really came together, and continued to come together to provide support.
You have every right to ask these questions and we have every responsibility to answer them.
But please know that there is nothing that we take more seriously than public safety and emergency response. And our city fire, EMS and police provided as great a response as possible.
Oh Frank. It must be so exhausting coming up with these lies about the Mayor and trying to justify his all expense paid vacations on the city time… Or the city money. I don’t give a crap that someone else paid for it. He is out of town more than he’s in town and he has very little to show for it.
I do love how Frank Kane is more communicative than the actual communications director at the City of Allentown. I hear this is another Michaela Boyer department So we shouldn’t be surprised that nothing has been said. We do appreciate you, Frank for keeping us updated and reaching out to all media. It does seem someone is doing their job in the city, unlike the Mayor and Boyer
I think Boyer was fighting the fire and that is why she wasn't able to be more communicative. Sadly, the city emergency management coordinator was mute during the entire ordeal and still hasn't said a word. Maybe he/she was fired?
The bottom line is that these trips are being funded with taxpayers money one way or another. I can’t wait for Matt’s term to be up! At that time the new Mayor needs to replace the majority of the Administration.
