Tonight gave us the true Allentown we all know.
A homicide in the 600blk of Gordon St.
Then another shooting possibly a homicide at S. Front and S. Filmore St.
I wonder if the two are connected?
Looks like Apd has it under control tho.
added 6am- the second shooting was another homicide

I think most of this is over gang territory (drug sales) disputes. Too many seem to believe Allentown doesn’t have a gang problem, but it does and has for many years. At least 5 criminal groups are working this city. If we had a concerned local newspaper pushing for more accountability and not just a liberal political propaganda rag this might all be uncovered and dealt with.
“The Office of Violence Prevention is working with our public safety and community partners to support those affected and help prevent further violence.
“Please do not retaliate. Violence only creates more harm. Let’s continue to look out for one another and keep Allentown safe.”
All progressive babble virtue signaling. Next up McPronouns will blame the proliferation of guns and prescribe the need for more gun laws.
The real alternative is to allow the police to actually police but that would hold his core constituents accountable which for them is breathing rare air. Aggressive policing is also horrible optics in the progressive circle jerk.
We need a 24/7 drop in youth center where young men can go and talk with someone from Dr. Batts team to lower the temperature, black and brown lived matter the systemic racism that caused this gun epidemic is unleashing unparalleled generational trauma upon BIPOC bodies.
Perhaps a very generous gun buy back program no questions asked would help get some of these killer devices off the streets
Another alternative is to cut the prohibition BS which fuels these gangs, just as stopping booze prohibition and legalizing gambling was a crushing blow to the mobs of yesteryear. Till then, I'll take those cameras over any other non-working solution.
Systemic racism has caused this gun epidemic? No. For that, you will need one race shooting at another different race. I blame it on BAD PARENTS. That is, if you (or the child) can actually find both parents.
I assume what you are suggesting is to make all drug sales and use legal. No thanks. Maybe we should just ignore everything once known to be a crime. I think Allentown is already working on this policy.
Stop snitching Abe
This reads like the city copy‑pasted a “violence is bad” canned statement and called it a day. “We’re working with partners” tells us nothing. “Don’t retaliate” is condescending. And “Let’s keep Allentown safe” is a slogan, not a plan.
This is their idea of violence prevention? No wonder nothing’s being prevented.
Allentown voted for this weak and absent leadership that hides behind a desk writing PR fluff statements like these.
On the positive side, the Mayor represented us well at a Padres game on his latest tax payer funded junket. While the jury is still out on whether the trip resulted in "measurable benefits" or if there is evidence of "tangible outcomes" as a result of the expenses paid, we do know that the Mayor "strategized on affordability" and boned up on "coordinating local action to ensure election security" two obvious needs of Allentown tax payers. If only they had a warm and sunny junket with classes and strategizing sessions on how to prevent shootouts on your city streets!
Luckily Mayor Tuerk’s administration is investing millions in a DROP pension for the police officers. By keeping the senior staff on duty we get to look forward to these kind of responses to violence.
The mayor is exactly the representative Allentown deserves right now. Aging, failing, trying to be relevant, dirty, toothless, lazy, probably drug fueled, and definitely laughed at by its neighbors.
The DROP program needs to be declined by City Council!
With tureky being the mayor the city's bird on the flag is the shitfly.
Do you mean the mayors imported agents for his economic development learned skills from his trip to nuscums state.
