Breaking News: Leadership is Now Important for Allentown.

I hear we may have a new director joining the ranks of this blog! This was a surprise for your humble blogger Abe. Thanks to Lehigh Valley Ramblings for breaking this news today.

I am surprised by this move by Matt Tuerk. He does not like to share the spotlight. Could this be further proof of what has been said on this blog and social media? That our Pee-Wee mayor is no longer having fun being mayor. By hiring this managing director, he can now push off all responsibility, and most importantly blame, for the operations of the city… or the failed operations of the city which have been more frequent lately.

Tuerk can now focus on what he likes to do… turning into a silly jet-setting TikTok diva while billing it all to the city taxpayers.

From my dealings with the city, we are in desperate need of a strong managing director like Joe MacMahon, and I hope Mr. Kane can rise to the challenge. The city is out of control. Between mismanaged finances, crime through the roof, a downtown area that is more like a ghost town, and more people becoming homeless by the day, it is clear that the city is in need of leadership and management.

What does this mean for the deadweight in the city. Let’s start with Michaela Boyer.

Is she no longer trying to get promoted? Is she leaving the city? Will she be able to survive under the careful eye of a managing director? Will she reduce her hours to 1 day every 6 months instead of the current 1 day per quarter?

The cabinet directors must be also shaking in their boots. They are finally going to have someone to hold them responsible for their lackluster and weak leadership.

I am sure Vicky Kistler is currently researching retirement options because she can no longer pull the wool over her boss’s eyes. She will need to provide results and will be answering a seasoned community & economic development professional.

Bina Patel will finally have to provide answers and not “I will have to get back to you on that.”

Mark Shahda will have to be a present leader during snow clean-up operations.

Freddy Agusto may just have to do an investigation to find out who in his department should be accountable for a traffic violation/” error in judgement.” It is a perfect opportunity to hold

Chief Roca accountable for the noise and dirtbikes that plague the city.

The job description passes the city management from the mayor to the new Managing Director. The notice on the agenda indicated that the salary will be $131,977. The mayor makes $95,000 per year.

So the Mayor couldn't find anyone qualified enough in the city to take the director position? Not even on his stellar cabinet he always brags about?

I heard he was going to tap Chief Rocca for the job. Not sure how true that is

Doesn't anyone find it odd that Mike Hanlon was moved a seat over and Genesis is now taking role? I feel like something else will be happening there soon.

Nothing will change

I doubt the Roca rumor is true. Roca is a stellar police chief and is far more valuable as Chief to the city and Tuerk.

Not at all

His résumé is far more impressive than Matt Turks.

Bro, Joe McMahon was a volatile screamer who in a fit of rage during a meeting on the fifth floor was asked to go into the hallway and cool off where he proceeded to knock an elderly often inebriated man to the floor who had to be taken to the hospital by City EMS. The very man who asked him into the hallway to cool down. There is nothing strong about Joe, screamers in the workplace are weak bullies who crave dominance and power. Hard pass. And I was a fan of Joe until he started getting pushy/shovy/screamy with elderly men.

I left Allentown years ago. These days, it seems Allentown’s management has perfected the art of collecting paychecks while doing very little else. Maybe it was always that way and the leadership then was just better at hiding it!

If I understand correctly, Allentown PA will be managed by a Non Elected Manager, who doesn't report to the taxpayers. While our Elected Mayor, Controller and Council do their own things as usual, also not answering to the taxpayers. Do we need any of these people? Or just maybe more worker bees who actually work for the taxpayers and produce results? A man the new county executive ejected will rebound on his feet as the City's top dog.

Tuerk will always take in strays. Look at his cabinet.
I have heard that Kane is a going to serve the city very well. If he is successful at pushing Tuerk into oblivion where he is cutting ribbons, riding his tricycle, and acting foolish at the State of the City, he will certainly run the city much better than it has for the previous 9+ years
I am very optimistic. Seriously how much worse can it possibly get?

For sure this is someone from the 5th floor trying to uncover your identity. Don't do it.
I am sure Pee Wee is obsessed with this blog because it shows the kind of leader he is really is.

I am sure the fed is watching your blog ABE as there are corruption fighters posting on your blog daily as you do. Start at the top and drag the bottom feeding ngo's that this shit head showed up just in time to cover peewee MCpronouns many types of asses.

If we have a full time city manager why do we need a full time mayor?

Anonymous said...

We don't need a mayor. This one has been an absent mayor since day one. A city manager like Norristown would work better in Allentown. What has this mayor actually achieved?

Rumor in city hall hallways is that Pee Wee already promoted Boyer to an empty position in the mayors office and gave her more money than city policy allows. Now the question is did she replace Ortega or BalikCole?

the strong mayor system seems to be a legacy system. many newer mu nicipalities are trending towards council-manager forms of governance.

ABE how is it that mayor MCpronouns and its cabnit have so much unresolved emotional baggage and supposedly can run the city? Seems like many think money can fix it's underlining issues with no sunlight to cleans there parasitic nature's run a muck.
