Did you catch the Ed Pawlowski story on Wfmz tonight? Whether your a fan or not, how does a guy who was in prison get more news time than the current mayor? I'll tell you.
Ed isnt a wannabe. He doesnt try to fit in. Or get silly tattoos. Felon yes. Like 47 counts or something. He isnt fake and I actually believe he cares about the city despite his past actions. I cannot say that about the current mayor. You know the guy who no one sees anymore. Or cares to see.
Ed seems to have humbled himself while away. Dropping the soap can do that to a man I guess. Well dropping it multiple times will definitely do it.
I can tell you I'm not a huge Ed fan, but ill give credit where it's due. He was an actual leader. He was seen. He was also out in the community. Forget the sketchy wiretaps he was caught on. Haha. He did his time as far as Im concerned. Lest not forgot, having vendors or people the city does business with pay for your travels while you hold an office is also illegal.
However, I believe in second chances. I could totally see the next mayor making Ed their managing director. That would make a great story. A used car salesman replaced by a felon. Holla!!!
Love this gif
So kudos to turning your life around Ed. You might be Allentowns last hope to make it better before it is totally shit. Well it is shit. But I mean totally. All of it.

LETS GO ED!!!
I don’t want to go off topic, but did anyone watch the council meeting tonight? They agreed to pay an additional $25,000 to the accounting firm who is doing an assessment of the city’s finances so council can make informed decisions on capital projects including the police station, possible drop pension, etc. This brings the grand total to well over $500,000 that we are paying this firm to tell us about the city finances. Now, others on this blog have stated that the city is currently in a contract year with the FOP. How in the world is this firm going to give an accurate representation of the the city finances, especially when dealing with the police, if they have no idea what the police contract will look like? What happens if they get a 9% raise? What happens if they get a 6% raise? What happens if they have to pay more into their pension plan? What happens if they have to pay less into their plan? What happens if they way they calculate their pension plan changes? It seems to me, that this study should at least wait until contracts are solidified so the numbers aren’t just “soft” numbers and council knows exactly what they’re dealing with. Right now, we’re paying for a half million dollar study that 100% will be wrong come the end of the year because no one knows what the police contract will be.
Abe, fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me. Any good con man can make himself appear contrite and redeemable. If you truly understood Ed, his only interest in Allentown was as a stepping stone to something bigger and better. Remember, all of his graft was related to funding is repeated runs for higher office. That would have been his ticket out of town. Had he been and honest man, and truly cared about the city he would still be mayor, he wasn't, didn't, and isn't. Finally, can we all understand once and for all that Ed eliminated almost all the institutional knowledge in city hall. He replaced them with cronies and those willing to look the other way. Whether they to do the job was at best a secondary concern. Allentown had it's problems before Ed but those of us who here at that time remember a very competent city hall staff. Ed put an end to that. Any poorly managed entity is bound to fail, and failing is what city hall has done ever since. That's Ed's legacy.
Well said Scott !! Totally agree with your assessment!!
If the people that are in management now are Ed Pawlowski cronies, Ed was worse than I thought, the management of the city (bureau managers, Chiefs, and directors) are all the problem. They blindly follow an incapable and incompetent mayor who has an agenda to self promote and destroy anyone in his (or evil witch Michaela BOYer’s) way. No wonder these individuals moved up so fast - they have no morals or standards and that aligned perfectly with Pawlowski and was even better for Tuerk.
Quit talking about the DROP. It will bankrupt the city and council will be responsible for it. Affa already said she wont be held responsible. Lets see if she holds to her word.
Huh? Then drop would bankrupt the city so stop talking about it? Thats exactly why people should be talking about it. Do you honestly think there hasn’t been back room discussions these past few months between the fop, city, and council about how great the drop is and how they need to vote for it? I have zero faith that once this study comes back saying the finances are great, that the city won’t okay the drop. It’s people like you who say “stop talking about it” who allow this city to get with things then turn around and complain in this blog that something happened when it’s already too late. I know for a fact by speaking to my friendly bike cop that officers have already put in for the drop for the end of this year and the city has told them that they don’t need councils permission for it.
The DROP is actually a great initiative and has been successful in so many other municipalities. Allentown needs the senior officers to stick around and mentor the junior officers to eventually take over for them. Isn't that a basic tenet of leadership? Train your capable subordinates to one day take your job?
I applaud the FOP and the administration for introducing the DROP. The FOP finally has leadership. Leadership that they were obviously lacking previously. Individuals with self-serving interests to promote and protect those closest to them while ignoring the full police body.
Bwahahahaha! Okay officer. Let me guess, you’re one of the ones who will benefit greatly from this. It’s always the same from the fop. It’s either “we need senior officers to stick around to mentor the junior officers” or the old “if you don’t give us the drop a lot of officers will leave and the city will be in ruin”. In every drop program, including the failed one here many years ago, none of the senior officers mentored their replacements. Not a single one. There is no program, and never will be one, where they train someone for a year to be chief, or captain, or sergeant. Everyone knows this, you sound like an idiot when you use that as an excuse why a drop is needed. Secondly, crime is down. By a lot. Just listen to the chief or the mayor. As many officers that want to leave can. No one will notice a difference, just like the last time a bunch of officers leave. You use this as a scare tactic over and over and it has never played out. If you were so worried about officers leaving, why did you fight so hard and pass a bill allowing officers to buy back 5 years and leave early? This is solely a money grab by the police that they are trying to scare council into accepting. Listening to you and the other officers try to fight for it with these ridiculous excuses is hilarious, especially when I see 3 of you parked side by side in a parking lot for an hour at a time. I think we could probably thin out some of the ranks.
someone sounds just like an angry and unhappy officer themselves. Need a box of tissues? Was someone passed over for promotion or an award? 😢
Pawlowski gutted the career department heads and leadership that knew their jobs and how to run the city. What we’re dealing with now is a direct result of his actions.
If Ed could toss aside talented employees that wouldn’t pay along with his schemes, why wouldn’t Tuerk think he could do the same?
Only now Tuerk’s flunky department heads are even worse because Pawlowski’s flunky department heads also gutted the workforce and replaced many of THEM with political hires as well.
As someone else said, this is Pawlowski’s legacy. If you’re upset with Tuerk, you should be repulsed by Pawlowski.
And to anyone who is believing Pawlowski’s BS reform tour, you’re an idiot. He has never even admitted to his crimes (always blaming others for what happened) and should not have been released early. I can only hope that he finds another city far, far away that’s even dumber than Allentown and moves away to practice his grift there.
No. I actually worked for 17 years in Parks and currently live in a nice renovated historical home in downtown Allentown. You obviously are an officer however and just showed many people how officers act toward citizens while trying to squeeze every penny from them under the guise of “protecting the city”. You sure did show your true colors with that post officer.
So did you, officer. A Parks person gives a damn about a police pension initiative and talks about insider details of APD. You may claim you’re a Parks person, but it is the very clear you are an officer.
I believe in the Pawlowski reform tour as much as I believe Tuerk is a good mayor.
Unions exist to collective bargain on behalf of the rank and file. There is nothing altruistic about their mission. I don't blame the FOP for looking after themselves, but in truth the good of the city's fiscal future has always been a secondary concern.
If Tuerk knew what was good for him, he would boot Verizon Frank and hire Ed as his city manager. I think he’d get better BANG for his BUCK
Scott very eloquently written, my only words are palumpashitsky= jennings mentorship both soulsuckerZ incorperated and operated valley wide!)$?
Many of Ed's cellmates thought very highly of him. If he can secure a position in City or County government, Ed can fully staff either agency to full capacity with friends he has made from out of state.
Hey asshat at 3:46. Yes, I worked for the city for 17 years in the parks department. I know you can’t comprehend that there are city bureaus outside of the police department, which totally goes toward my argument that you are solely focused on your own police department, but yes, some of us have actually lived in the city and attended council meetings for the past twenty years. As for “insider information”, I talk to an officer every now and then who is in the neighborhood, other than that, I get my information from council. What’s wrong? Are you now afraid that the citizens who pay taxes question council and don’t allow council to okay everything you want? Go bark up another tree or grow a set and actually show up to a council meeting like I do and speak to your position on the drop. The drop bankrupts cities. Look at Philly. You want a payout. Pretty clear.
2:30 thank you! Perfect summation of Pawlowski's destructive actions as mayor and the resulting dysfunction and cluelessness of city hall ever since.
I love seeing all of the love for Ed. It is even funnier no one really likes Matt
