This makes zero sense

I have spoken about this stupid arch before.  But too see it up now completed really makes no sense.

Welcome to Allentown at the 1200blk of Hamilton St.  Makes no sense at all.

Then when you drive westbound it says West Park????

West Park is between 15th and roughly 17th st. Linden to Turner. I am at a loss for words.  Who is responsible for this??  Im not saying who.

This sign should be atleast out by the Hamilton Diner or farther out.  Or N. 7th St. when you leave whitehall To enter the city.  The 1100blk of Hamilton St.?

I can't wait until a plow truck knocks it over.

Enjoy the Super Bowl, I fortunately got a ticket at the top of the stadium from a rich friend of mine and will be there.

Another boring and predictable whining post. I ask the readers of this blog to not get caught up in one person’s hate spewing for Matt Tuerk.
The overwhelming majority of people on other sites love the steps the administration is taking to make a better Allentown.
This blog is just a bitchfest for angry and sour people.

I agree with with 10:54 above. The posts on this site remind me of that angry/sour guy who pitched a fit on video at an employee during the Trump rally. You do not need to be angry or sour to ponder the decision making to build a gateway to West Park at 12th & Hamilton. Its quite offensive to residents of West Park to be associated with someone else's neighborhood (7 to 8 blocks away) that is obviously in decline. I wonder if West Park Civic Association was involved in this mistake??? The residents of Franklin Park or Library Area should be sour...they were skipped out on in their own neighborhood!

Hey Abe
Let do story on mayors cabinet level positions and and their salaries. I’m sure you’ll find lack of experience and education in dealing with major events. This winter is example of how inexperienced these people are for salaries they have, plus SUV
To take home every night all at taxpayers expense.

The original boundaries of The West Park Civic Association established in 1975 were 12th to 17th, Court to Gordon St. That was 1975 and although the boundaries are technically the same the WPCA has not been a presence east of 13th for years, and in more recent years the focus has been on the West Park Historic District which covers 15th to 17th. What is interesting that the sign doesn't say, "Welcome to Franklin Park" as I believe grant requests have labeled it as such. Ripple Community inc. needed an actual community so they created one of their own by recreating the long since defunct Franklin Park Community Association. It existed within the boundaries of the WPCA and the two associations collaborated and coordinated until the FPCA ceased to exit about 20 years ago. Ripple resurrected the name in an effort to make their NGO appear to actually be a real community. Of course it isn't but to get the free money/grants they they must make every effort to appear as such. In this Matt has been a great help to point where the ersatz Franklin boundaries extended and appeared to supersede even the WPCA Historic boundary. This raised eyebrows in the West Park neighborhood when residents learned they now, according to the city related documents lived in Franklin Park. Of course this was all related to Ripples zoning and monetary needs. So why does the arch not reflex all this and say welcome to Franklin Park? The west facing arch might as well say, "Welcome to the land of make believe".

Why Matt? You dont like all your mistakes and your cabinets mistakes being brought out? The people that "love you" arent informed. Lets be honest you think you are that great. You cant handle a foot of snow even after 2 weeks!! You have starbucks as your 2nd in command. You arent as popular you think. I guess you only read the positive comments about yourself.

This exercise has been done before.

1. CED Director $150,873.00 – a horrible human being who pretends to care but secretly does more damage than good behind the scenes. She and Candida Affa are good friends. That should be enough to tell you everything about the CED Director.

2. Finance Director 136,500.00 – The never knowing a damn thing director in the mayor’s cabinet. Her stupidity combined with Tuerk’s arrogance and poor management will bankrupt the city. The finance director was selected because she was there – no one wanted the job.

3. Public Works Director $143,892.00 - an unqualified “yes man” that would do anything for Tuerk. No formal education, simply right place at the right time. Knows he has it good and would never have a position like this anywhere else.

4. Police Chief $169,364.00 – a good guy in an increasingly horrible situation with a moron of a boss. I question why the Chief remains at the City of Allentown pushing Matt Tuerk’s deeply flawed agenda. Chief Roca is so much better than this.

5. Fire Chief $169,364.00 – another “yes man” who isn’t very smart. Afraid of his own shadow and will cave to just about anything.

6. HR Director $131,977.00 – a fraud in the HR community. Has no HR qualifications or abilities. No higher education that would qualify him as a Director of Human Resources. Has been used by Tuerk to eliminate and punish staff that are not democrat or following Tuerk and the swamp critter assistant way of corrupt management. True definition of “faking it, ‘til you make it”

7. Parks & Recreation Director $136,714.00 – A very nice person who is trying to navigate the stupidity that is the Tuerk administration. Is unfairly often blamed for decisions that come from Tuerk and his little swamp critter assistant.

Each one of these directors have a take-home vehicle at their disposal except for the finance and Human Resources Directors. You are correct, the vehicles are taken home at taxpayer expense. The fuel, insurance, maintenance, and repairs are all at the cost of the city taxpayer.

The sad thing is that these are a small snapshot of the total vehicles that are taken home from the city fleet. Council won’t do anything about this waste and abuse of taxpayers' money – they are bought by Matt Tuerk. Quid Pro Quo is what put our prior mayor in jail for 15 years. This mayor uses the taxpayer’s money to secure votes from our council members - $100,000 towards unsheltered, $5,000 towards the Irish parade, $3,000 towards the Dominican Festival. It is all in the budget details, yet quid pro quo thrives in Allentown.

The Controller has a fraud line -- give him a call or email; he and his assistant aren't doing much for Allentown.

The Allentown City Controller operates a 24-hour telephone/email hotline for reporting potential fraud, waste, abuse anonymously.

The telephone/email hotline is confidential and can be used by anyone, including employees.

The information is only accessible to the City Controller's Office

You seemed to have forgotten the IT Director and the mayor’s staff.

Also the Director of HR is highly supported by Affa, Hendricks and Zucal-enough said.

He was instrumental in helping Gross, Rosenberger and Tuerk squash the Curtis report once it was obvious that there were clear instances of racism, discrimination, retaliation, and hostile work environments at the direction of the Tuerk Administration and the former and current council members. Not a man of integrity or honor at all.

Instead of “Welcome to Allentown” the arch should read “Make Sure Your Doors Are Locked”.

Thoughts should be on who is related to fabricator and or whatever commissioned this eyesore as some sort of art placed on Hamilton.
