Allentown. Did you know that your mayor is working towards Premium status on his frequent flyer miles? Did you know that he is putting personal miles on his premium city provided vehicle?
Did you know that he is using your premium taxpayer dollars to attend a conference a week? Yes, it is true. And WE get to pay for Matt Tuerk building his brand off our backs.

His most recent jaunt was at the Conference of Mayor’s AI Conference on 12/10 and 12/11. The conference was billed accordingly: “the workshop should catalyze the development of a comprehensive city's AI usage policy, strategy, and/or playbook. The insights and collaborations generated will form the essential foundation for guiding both the bold and responsible adoption of AI, ensuring alignment with city values and enhancing the quality of life for all residents. We unite influential minds, pioneering technologies, and practical insight, to transform theoretical discussions into tangible, profitable business outcomes.” I looked at the list of presenters and speakers, and Matthew wasn’t there so I would have to assume that he went so he didn’t have to pay attention to Allentown.
NONE of those fancy words in the description are attributable to Matt Tuerk. Leader, tech innovator, influential minds? Not at all. Exactly how does Matthew intend to justify this trip and the duties of the city of Allentown? Most of our workforce is predominantly working with the community, taking care of parks, public services, cleaning streets, etc. Is he planning to replace the high-cost Fire and Police Departments with robots?
Is he looking for AI to help him figure out how to write a favorable SEIU contract?
Or is he just wasting time and money because he really isn’t competent at being a mayor? It is also worth noting that the Conference of Mayor’s sounds important, but it is a membership based for profit organization and a way for Matty to feel important since he serves on the advisory board. Well, I hope they aren’t listening to him at these conferences; he only knows how to ruin a good city. The city taxpayers pay $13,870 per year for this membership and that amount will rise to $15,257
The suggested attendees at the AI Conference from the site include: Mayor, Council, City Manager; heads of major departments (IT, Public Works, Safety, Planning, Finance, HR, Legal); IT and data specialists (CIO, CDO, cybersecurity, analysts); legal and procurement for compliance and contracts, yet we only had representation from Matthew Tuerk.
Mr. Mayor, focus on Allentown issues. Show up to council like a good mayor is expected. Stop using our money for your personal enhancement and then try to raise taxes. If you aren’t up for the job, step down.
